Worry Free Adoption For Seniors

New cat rescue to open in Grand Rapids

We believe that seniors who are living alone can benefit from a loving feline companion. Through our Worry Free Adoption for Seniors Program we endeavor to match a senior cat with a senior citizen. We can do this because we get to know our cats and their personalities. When a senior tells us what they are looking for in a companion cat, we match the senior with one of our cats we believe will be a good match. If for some reason the match does not work out, we will bring that cat back to the rescue and try another cat until the senior believes that they have the right cat for them. One of the things that make this program special is that if the senior cannot come to the rescue to get their cat we will bring a cat to them! Through our seniors program we have taken a lot of the worry out of senior adoptions. Please note: Several assisted living places in our area allow residents to have pets. These homes welcome our cats because of our senior program.

Why Should You Adopt

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you’ll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.

Who Is Second Chance Cat Rescue Of Grand Rapids

Please note that we do not take cats into the center from the public.

Here at Second Chance Cats , our mission is to help cats at municipal shelters who are at risk for euthanasia, or cats who have special/medical needs that shelters have a hard time managing. Because we are primarily working with area shelters and rescues, we, unfortunately, are not able to take stray cats off the streets or cats that need to be re-homed.

We are a small, volunteer-based facility, and we simply dont have the space to quarantine new arrivals at our adoption center. We ask that people please do not bring outside cats into our adoption center this facility is for cats who are ready to be adopted into their forever homes.

We wish that we were able to help every cat in need, but it simply is not possible and we are doing our best to stick to our mission of giving second chances to at-risk cats. If you have found a stray or have a cat that needs to be re-homed, please contact Kent County Animal Shelter or Humane Society of West Michigan both wonderful resources in our community that can help with these kinds of needs.

Great Tails Animal Rescue is dedicated to providing temporary shelter and veterinary care for stray, abandoned, and surrendered animals of Itasca County, Minnesota and surrounding areas, with the purpose of finding loving, permanent homes. Our goal is to advocate for domestic animals in our community by promoting spay and neutering, providing education and resources, and encouraging essential veterinary care.

Great Tails Animal Rescue wants to thank all of our supporters, fosters, and volunteers for their efforts in getting our foster animals to appointments, meet and greets, and adoptions. As we grow and take in more foster animals we want to keep the process as smooth and simple as possible. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Who We Are

Reubens Room Cat Rescue is a 501 non profit rescue/no-kill sanctuary in the greater Grand Rapids Area. Reubens Room is an alternative cat rescue founded in 2003 by Jeanine Buckner. The purpose of the rescue is to help fill the need for re-homing domesticated cats of all ages. We adopt cats to both single people and families who have a track record of being responsible and loving companions, and who understand a commitment to an animal is a lifetime commitment.

All of our precious adoptables are tested for feline leukemia and FIV. They have been spayed or neutered, are up to date on vaccines and any medical needs, and are microchipped.

Our cats are only available for adoption after this has been done.

Occasionally someone will drop off cats at our rescue. These people probably believe that we will take them in and provide them shelter. Unfortunately, Reubens Room rehomes cats, we do not take in strays or ferals.

Reubens Room does not have an open door policy.

If you would like to adopt one of our cats, let us know via Petfinder or email catrescuereubensroom@gmail.com to make arrangements.
