Best Exploding Kittens Expansions

Your ultimate guide to the list of best Exploding Kittens expansions. The original game came out in 2015 and has since churned out a total of 3 quality expansions over the years. Each pack is jammed with brand new cards to enrich your gameplay experience. In case you are unaware, Exploding Kittens is a game where you need to ask for favors, attack friends and see the future- whatever it takes to avoid an explosion. The base game is great, but it can be made better. This is our comprehensive guide to the best Exploding Kittens expansions.

Imploding Kittens Expansion Pack

Join in on more Exploding Kittens action with the Imploding Kittens Expansion Pack! Now playable with 5-6 players and includes 20 new cards and the Cone of Shameâ.

$19.99

If you loved Exploding Kittens, then youâll need to grab the Imploding Kittens Expansion Pack! Imploding Kittens Expansion Pack is the first expansion pack from the popular Russian-roulette style card game that introduces 20 brand new cards to the mix, the ability to up the player count to 5 and 6 and a human-sized âCone of Shameâ. The first person to forget whose turn comes next will become a human direction indicator and wear the âCone of Shameâ for the rest of the game!

In Exploding Kittens, players take turns drawing cards until someone draws and exploding kitten and loses the game. The deck is made up of cards that let you avoid exploding by peeking at cards before you draw, forcing your opponent to draw multiple cards, or shuffling the deck. The game gets more and more intense with each card you draw because fewer cards left in the deck means a greater chance of drawing the kitten and exploding in a fiery ball of feline hyperbole.

Imploding Kittens Expansion Pack is not a stand-alone game, as you must have an Exploding Kittens deck in order to play. The Imploding Kittens Expansion Pack is fully compatible with any Exploding Kittens deck .

Imploding Kittens Expansion Pack is recommended for 5-6 players, ages 7 and up.

How It Works: Try Not To Draw The Wrong Card

The whole point of Exploding Kittens is to not draw an Exploding Kitten card. Once you do, youre out. Thats the luck part. And since you cant end your turn until you draw a card, the threat is always there. But to stay in the game, you can try to use all the other cards to your advantage. Thats where the strategy comes in: You want to lower your odds of drawing the dreaded card by increasing the odds that your opponents will.

This is done with the use of the other cards in the deck. Every player gets one Defuse card, which counteracts the Exploding Kitten card. You only get to play it once, but youll stay alive and you get to put the Exploding Kitten card back in the deck wherever you want. If you think it through carefully, you might be able to knock the next opponent out.

There are six other types of cards, including an Attack card, which lets you immediately end your turn and force the next player to take two turns in a row. Why is taking two turns a bad thing? Because youll have to draw two cards, and you never know if the Exploding Kitten will be one of them.

Most people attracted to this game will love the ridiculous drawings of bats farting or cats shaped like hairy potatoes.

Each deck of 56 cards can support a game of two to five players . Shuffle the Exploding Kitten cards into the deck, making sure theres one less than there are players so that someone can win.

Things To Consider When Buying Exploding Kitten

Imploding Kittens

When youre ready to buy exploding kitten, several considerations should be made before you make the final decision. Youll want to know how the product looks and feels, but youll also want to know what it can do for you. The best way to buy something is to look at it from a logical perspective and keep your emotions out of the equation. What Cards Does Streaking Kittens Have

Streaking Kittens is the second expansion pack for exploding kittens, so what are the cards in the exploding kittens expansion?

Streaking Kittens contains 15 new cards to add to your original deck. These new cards are:

  • 1 Streaking Kitten Card
  • 2 Curse Of The Cat Butt Cards

So now we know the cards that the deck consists of. Lets take a look at what the cards actually do.

Streaking Kitten If a player has a streaking kitten card in their hand it allows the player to secretly hold an exploding kitten in their hand without exploding. If the streaking kitten leaves the players hand for any reason, for example, it is stolen by another player, then the exploding kitten in their hand will explode. It must be defused or the player is out of the game.

Exploding Kitten This pack includes an extra exploding kitten to accommodate the streaking kitten or to allow for more players to play the game.

See The Future The see the future card allows a player to secretly view the top 5 cards in the deck and put them back in the same order. The cards must not be shown to the other players. This card allows a player to view 2 more cards than the see the future cards in the original deck which only let a player secretly view the top 3 cards.

Super Skip A Super Skip ends a players turn without having to draw a card. Unlike the skip card from the original deck a super skip will end all turns and not just one which can help when being attacked.

Exploding Kittens Expansion Pack

AGES 7+

This is the second expansion of Exploding Kittens. Exploding Kittens is a highly strategic kitty-powered version of Russian Roulette. Players try to avoid drawing Exploding Kittens using catnip sandwiches, deploying special ops bunnies, and seeking out the wisdom of an all-seeing goat wizard. This game is kid-friendly, super fun, and easy to learn. It’s a fast-paced party game perfect for family game night or as an anytime boredom buster. Includes 15 cards and instructions that refresh the core game, adding a new level of strategy and hilarity. Each card features an illustration by Matt Inman of theoatmeal.com. Features the “Streaking Kitten” card which allows players to secretly hold an Exploding Kitten in their hand without exploding.

This is not a standalone game it requires a copy of Exploding Kittens to play.

Exploding Kittens What Do You Get

If you opt for the original box, you get everything you need to play straight away, in a neat and tidy 2.5×3.5 box: 56 cards and the instruction sheet .

On the other hand, the First Edition offers the same core components in a slightly more luxurious box that meows when it opens and offers space for additional cards and sleeved decks. Whether thats worth an extra £10 is your call.

However, for the same price, you can get the NSFW edition, with cards allegedly too horrible for the core game. This costs the same as the original game , and can be played either on its own, or combined to allow more players to join in.

The £14.99 Imploding Kittens expansion is available for this purpose, and adds 20 new cards, although speaking from a purely personal point of view, paying for a card expansion that costs almost as much as the core game leaves a slightly bad taste in the mouth.

The cards themselves are made of sturdy-feeling glossy material, and the artwork is bright and detailed. They shuffled smoothly right out of the box, although if youre planning on playing regularly, sleeves may be a good investment to protect the cards in the long term.

Thats no criticism of the product, just something that needs to be considered for any card-based game thats likely to see regular use.

Why Buy Exploding Kittens

Streaking Kittens – The 2nd Exploding Kittens Expansion!

Exploding Kittens is a fine addition to the growing selection of party-style games for grown ups. The original game alone offers a lot of replay value, especially after a few passes through it so all the players get a feel for the flow of play.

The styling may not be for everyone, but if youre looking for a quick, fun game, this one comes highly recommended.

The Bottom Line: Yea Or Nay

Exploding Kittens has received a lot of hype over the years, due mostly to its amazing Kickstarter success. Most of us have been burned by over-hyped products or movies before, so itâs natural to be cautious. When it comes to this game, the hype is totally on point.

If your sense of humor is aligned with the makers of the game, then Exploding Kittens is definitely worth the money. This isnât a game that you will only play once, itâs the sort that you will want to play over and over again, and to get visiting friends and family to play too.

Should the day come when youâre finding the core game a bit dull, then you can freshen things up with one of the expansions.

Exploding Kittens is a game that can bring generations together for good-humored competitiveness. The cards themselves are amusing and well drawn, and the gameplay is simple to learn and interesting enough to hold interest over multiple games.

How Many Cards In Exploding Kittens

Exploding Kittens is the well known kickstarter hit, record breaking card game designed by Matthew Inman and Elan Lee. The aim of the game is to play strategically to blow up your opponents whilst avoiding being blown up yourself but how many cards in exploding kittens? This article is going to explain just that.

Age Range: Temperament Trumps Age

72% off on 15 Card Expansion Pack For Exploding Kittens

The games creators recommend ages 7 and up, but we think that depends a lot on the 7-year-old. Age, really, is less relevant than temperament. Theres not a lot of reading, and the concept is simple to understand, but theres strategy required to make the game fun and not just random, and that requires patience and concentration. Some younger kids might find that kind of a tall order.

The games creators recommend ages 7 and up, but age is less relevant than temperament.

Theres also quite a bit of downtime as you wait for each player to make his or her choices. Since each player can play as many cards as they like before ending their turn, it can take a while. Exploding Kittens is definitely not a fast-paced, action-packed game. And its really only fun for people who relish knocking other players out of the game.

Regrets

We really wish we had never released this card, BUTT we did, so here are all the extra dumb rules.

  • Blind Barking Kitten

If you play a Barking Kitten while blind, you may not look at any of the incoming or outgoing cards.

If a Barking Kitten is played and a blind player has the other Barking Kitten, they may look at their cards to discard their Barking Kitten, then shuffle their cards blindly and proceed with the normal Barking Kittens rules blindly.

If you have a Barking Kitten card face up in front of you and become blind , keep the Barking Kitten visible to all players.

In all cases, after resolving the Barking Kittens, both players may look at their new hands to see if they now have an Exploding Kitten without a Streaking Kitten that must be Defused.

  • Blind Tower of Power

Curse of the Cat Butt only affects Stash Cards once they enter into a blind player’s hand, at which point they become blind.

  • Blind I’ll Take That

If an I’ll Take That Card is played on you while you are blind, you may look at the card you draw before giving it away as usual.

Then you will become unblinded because you have successfully drawn a card .

If you are blind and receive a card from an I’ll Take That, follow the rules of playing a Favor Card while blind.

  • Blind Potluck

If Potluck is played while you are blind, you must pick a card to place on the Draw Pile without looking at your cards.

After you have made your selection, you may secretly view the card .

Exploding Kittens How Fun Is It

In my personal experience, the best party games are the ones that are quick to learn , but still offer plenty of challenges to keep both new and experienced players entertained.

In keeping with that spirit, the basic mechanics for Exploding Kittens are extremely simple to learn. In fact, the instructions only take up two sides of paper!

The turn sequence and the effects of the various cards are explained clearly, so getting the hang of the turn sequence wont take too long. Testing it out with three players, it only took one pass round the table before we were all comfortable with the mechanics and could concentrate on winning.

So thats the easy part. The most enjoyable part of Exploding Kittens is how involved the gameplay becomes once players get the hang of utilising each cards special effect to its fullest effect and successfully bluffing their way towards getting the other players to explode.

This is definitely a game that rewards patience, concentration, and a good poker face. In fact, as different as the two games may appear at first glance, fans of The Resistance will find much to enjoy here, as many of the same skills will be required to achieve victory.

Some of the names and artwork for the cards also generated multiple laugh-out-loud moments during our test rounds. While the games makers insist the original game is suitable for players aged 7+, more sensitive souls may find this sort of gross-out humour slightly off-putting .

Entertainment Value: Fun For Evil Genius Types

Exploding Kittens requires a certain amount of hard-nosed aggression to try to get everyone else to explode but you. This appeals to some people but not others. We found that the kids, teens, and dads relished stealing cards from their opponents or setting them up for disaster. One of the moms in our group was more reluctant to be ruthless and enjoyed the game far less.

People in the group who dont like to think strategically also felt a little lukewarm about the game. It took a few rounds to remember what all the cards can do and learn how to use them to their best advantage. And since its a game with a lot of tension, rather than action, some of our younger players got bored pretty fast.

People in the group who dont like to think strategically felt a little lukewarm about the game.

However, game players who thrive on the luck of the draw, as well as the thrill of thwarting opponents and causing their demise, will thoroughly enjoy Exploding Kittens. Its simple enough that it doesnt require complex Machiavellian tactics, and most kids can grasp the strategic concepts. Games dont take too long to play, so its easy to fit in a round without a big-time commitment.
