About St Francis Animal Rescue Of Venice Inc

Over 150 Cats Taken From South Florida Shelters for Adoption

Location:

1925 S TAMIAMI TRL, VENICE, FL 34293, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to rescue and care for homeless cats & kittens until we find them loving homes.

Description

St. Francis Animal Rescue of Venice, Inc. was founded in 1992 when a devoted group of cat loving women banded together to feed and spay/neuter a colony of feral cats living by the beach in Nokomis, FL. These women recognized that there was a need to help abandoned and homeless cats in the community. SFAR operates solely from private donations and proceeds from our Thrift Store. We currently have an ongoing need for volunteers willing to help in our adoption center where we have 30 – 50 cats and kittens available for adoption at any given time. We also have a permanent sanctuary which houses approximately 35 permanent resident cats. Volunteers provide these cats with regular social enrichment. Our Thrift Store is vital to the operation of our shelter as all proceeds, less operating expenses, go directly to the care of our adoptable and permanent resident cats. Numerous volunteer opportunities exist at our store for people interested in having less direct contact with, but still having a direct impact on, our cats.

A Message From Kay Rosaire & The Big Cat Habitat

Big Cat Habitat & Gulf Coast Sanctuary in Sarasota, Florida has absolutely no affiliation or connection of any kind with Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, Florida. Due to the similarity in the facilities names, many people have confused our sanctuary with the Tampa facility owned by Carole Baskin.

Founded in 1987 by Kay Rosaire & family and becoming a 501c3 non-profit organization in 2005, Big Cat Habitat & Gulf Coast Sanctuary in Sarasota has become the safe, loving and permanent home of over 150 exotic and domestic animals. Our mission is to not only to provide the best animal care possible, but to preserve the human/animal connection in our world.

Why Should You Adopt

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you’ll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
