Newborn Kittens Just A Few Hours Old! 2021–01-17

When youre ready to adopt, be sure to read the British Shorthair adoption policy carefully for the cattery youre going with.

Its important to make sure that youre comfortable with all the terms and conditions before bringing your new cat home!

Adopting a British Shorthair or any cat for that matter is a huge decision, so be sure to do your research and ask plenty of questions before signing the contract.

Tips When Choosing A British Shorthair Breeder Or Cattery

When looking for a British Shorthair breeder, its important to do your research and make sure that youre dealing with a reputable breeder or cattery.

There are not a lot of British Shorthair breeders and catteries out there, and I did my best to verify the ones I listed are highly rated, TICA/CFA registered, and check all of the other boxes.

But its on you to do your own research and make sure youre adopting a kitten from an ethical breeder.

Be sure to visit the breeding facility in person, meet the parents of the kitten youre interested in if possible, and ask lots of questions.

A good breeder should be able to answer all of your questions and put your mind at ease.

A Little History Of The British Shorthair

Its believed the British Shorthair dates back as far as the first century, although the cats we see today will be very different from those!

They were created by crossing British domestic cats with Persian and Russian Blue cats.

The goal was to create a Cat Fanciers Association recognized breed that would have the best qualities of each.

And thats exactly what happened the British Shorthair is now recognized by the CFA and is one of the most popular pedigree breeds.

    Why Should You Adopt

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you’ll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.

British Shorthair kittens typically range from $1,500 to $3,000 USD, and adult British Shorthairs can cost anywhere from $500 to $1,000 USD.

Its fair to say that British Shorthairs are not an impulse purchase and that potential owners should also be prepared to spend a significant amount of money on their new cat.

But they are worth every penny!

Almost all free-roaming community cats are best off living out their lives in their outdoor homes. But when they face immediate danger there, we have to find them new places to go. This is easy for friendly strays who can be adopted into loving homes, but for feral or unsocialized cats who would be terrified and miserable living indoors among humans, we have to get creative. We turn ordinary street cats into “working cats,” ready to keep your property rodent-free!
