We offer a No Cost Spay/Neuter Program which provides free spay and neuter surgery for companion cats and dogs of eligible low income Calgarians. This program is not available for breeders. All applications for this program are referred through The Citys Fair Entry Program.
You May Qualify For Free Spay/neutering And Vaccinations
If you are on some sort of CT State aid, you may qualify for FREE spay/neutering and vaccinations through the Low Income Voucher Program which is the state of Connecticut’s Animal Population Control Program that offer APCP vouchers to have up to two of your pets spayed or neutered at no cost, please request an application by calling 713-2507 an application can be emailed or mailed to you. Or application can be downloaded from lower area of APCP page here. Once filled out with your DSS Client ID # or Social Security # to check your status, it must be mailed back to them . It can take up to 4 weeks for a reply. The voucher covers up to $120 for female pets, $100 for male pets, which includes 2 vaccinations. You are allowed 2 vouchers per household per fiscal year. Participating Veterinarians can be found at www.ct.gov/doag/apcp some vet clinics may have added charges with the APCP vouchers, but others such as Rippowam Animal Hospital in Stamford CT will accept the voucher as full payment, as long as it has not expired. Please be sure to ask when calling for appointments at your local vet.

How Do I Obtain The Free Spay Or Neuter Service Voucher
Qualified low-income and moderate-income residents who reside within the City of Albuquerque with DOG and CATS who have no medical issues:
- Apply to the Spay/Neuter Lottery anytime in English or Spanish.
- If your application is selected during an upcoming lottery, you will be contacted by AWD via phone and email.
- You will have one week to respond to AWD and claim your voucher. If you do not respond within one week, you application will be put back into the pool of lottery applicants.
- Proof of qualifications including ID, proof of residence, and proof of income eligibility MUST be presented at the time of your appointment.
- Vouchers are subject to the participating veterinary decisions about the condition of the dog.
- Vouchers surgeries are performed at a private veterinary clinic who are partnering with AWD. Citizens may incur additional costs not covered by AWD, including additional charges for non-routine surgery, antibiotics, or testing. AWD cannot cover these costs, they are the responsibility of the citizen who owns the animal receiving surgery at the time of services.

Low-cost Spay/Neuter Deposit
Effective Feb. 16, 2020, a small deposit will be required when you make an appointment to reserve your pets surgery . Your deposit will be deducted from your balance due on the day of surgery.
