The Story Behind Tiki Cat
Tiki Cat originally started as Petropics and was founded by Christine Hackett and her husband in 2005. Christine had previously worked in research and development for PetCo and during that time decided that the pet food market needed a new kind of diet. That meant food that was more species-appropriate, with fewer gains and carbohydrates.
Christine is also a big fan of Polynesian culture which explains the tiki-style branding. When talking about her brand to the New York Times she explains that We wanted the art, the cooking, the feel of vacation and the recipes were inspired by our own dining out.
This mindset shows in the actual food which features large chunks of human-grade ingredients that are easy to identify. I actually found a video of Christine talking about her brand and having a couple of quick nibbles of one of her products just to show how that its not all talk!
Know More About The Tiki Pets Brand
In 2005, Christine Hackett, together with her husband Robert, founded the Tiki Pets. Christine thought of establishing a pet food company as she saw the rising problem in the pet food industry while working in the Petco company.
The Hacketts aimed to provide what most premium brands fail to deliver pet foods that are grain-free and low or no carbohydrates. Because of its healthy recipes made of meat added with low carbs, the Tiki Pets quickly gained followers.
In 2015, the company became a part of the Whitebridge Pet Brands, which was formed from merged Cloud Star and Tiki Pets. Aside from Cloud Star and Tiki Pets, other brands included in the Whitebridge company are the Dogswell, Catswell, and Buddy Biscuits. Since then, the brand has been consistent in providing nutritious and delicious pet foods, which many customers have reflected on their Tiki Cat food reviews.
Tiki Cat has been very consistent in producing minimally processed food products that are carefully packed with perfect portion control and full nutrition without sacrificing the taste and appeal to our beloved pets.
Recently, the company has launched a new cat and dog treats, which is the current trend in the market. Included in the Tiki Pets Food products are the regional-inspired diets, single-served meal, appetite meal enhances, and the popular high-protein formulas.

What Does Real Ingredients Mean
Real natural ingredients used in Tiki products implies that it is made of shredded chicken, flaked fish, diced carrots, and whole peas. These are real, identifiable ingredients that we can also see on our plates.
The protein ingredients found in these cat foods came from excellent animal sources, such as chicken, lamb, egg, ahi tuna, Alaskan salmon, and prawns. Tiki Cat also added several superfoods in their pet food products, such as kale, spinach, carrots, flaxseed, and pumpkin. These superfoods are saturated with vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids.
Also, to retain the premium taste, the brand did not add any fillers or any animal by-products, like corn, wheat, white potatoes, any artificial flavoring, coloring, or preservatives.
Who Makes Tiki Cat And Where Is It Produced
The Tiki Pets brand was originally owned by a company named Petropics. However, the company merged with another, named Cloud Star, to create the new producer of Tiki Cat, Whitebridge Pet Brands. The food itself is produced in Thailand processing plants that meet international human food production standards. The company strives to source ingredients as close to its processing plants as possible, like the Thai fish that it sources from fisheries that are in good standing with the International Seafood Sustainability Foundation.

How Much Tiki Cat Food Should I Feed My Cat
The label on cat food provides all the necessary information on how much you should feed your cat. But keep in mind, this is more of a guideline as cats have different dietary requirements.
Pregnant and nursing cats should be fed more almost twice as much food in the second half of their pregnancy. And while nursing, feed your mommy cat as much food as shell eat. For kittens, if youre feeding them dry food, its a good idea to introduce it when they are approximately five weeks old. Allow them to eat as much as they are 12 months old.

Additional Ingredients Worth Mentioning
When choosing food for your cat, its essential to look at the main ingredients. Because these are listed by weight, we already know Tiki Cat Born Carnivore is an excellent choice because the first five are all proteins from an animal source.
But what about some of the other ingredients in this recipe? Do they have a purpose, or are they just fillers? Lets take a look at these more closely.
- Dried egg product
- Whole chickpeas and pumpkin
Dried egg product
Not sure what dried egg product is? The easiest way to explain this is that dried egg is to eggs what powdered milk is to milk. The dehydrated or dried egg is easy to digest and provides cats with an excellent source of protein.
Whole peas are an excellent source of grain-free carbohydrates and provide your cat with protein and essential minerals and vitamins. In the wild, cats eat a small number of carbohydrates, which are usually a by-product of their prey. If you think about it , there are the bits of grain and fruits and vegetables found in the stomachs of field mice, rats, and birds.
Another carbohydrate source in this particular formula is tapioca flour. It is a gluten-free carbohydrate from the cassava root and is necessary when making dry cat food.

My Overall Rating 8/10
Tiki Cat can be an excellent cat food but it really does depend on the specific recipe you select. When it comes to wet food, the Puka Puka Luau is one of the best on the market with a simple, protein-focused recipe that minimizes fillers and preservatives. But other recipes, like the Bora Bora, are much closer to average. Not bad, but certainly not on the same level as the Puka Puka.
When it comes to dry food, the relatively new Born Carnivore line is a great option for budget-friendly high protein kibble.
But when you look at the best recipes that Tiki Cat has to offer, combined with a pile of positive reviews and a perfect recall history I believe Tiki Cat deserves a solid 8 out 10 rating. If youd like to learn more and about Tiki Cat and check the latest prices you can .
