Dogs Adapt Better To Change

Cats are usually sensitive to their environments and dislike change. Many dogs tend to accept change more easily, especially when their owners act like it’s no big deal. Of course, there are plenty of anxious and fearful dogs out there, but as a species, they’re often calmer in the face of significant alterations to their lifestyles.
When it comes to introducing new people, pets, or items to your home or moving to a new house, cats generally need more time to adapt. They don’t automatically trust that all is well. They want proof first. Most dogs take their cues from their owners. If you’re cool and calm when that new baby comes in your door, chances are that your dog will be, too. Of course, some might not be quite as accepting of strangers.
Dog Cats Or Dogs Have Better Hearing
Cats and dogs both hear better than humans but as the folks at Locust Valley Veterinary Clinic in Locust Valley, New York, point out, cats can hear almost one octave higher than dogs. They also note while dogs, depending on breed, have around 18 muscles controlling ear movement cats have nearly twice as many ear muscles. This allows cats to move each ear independentlymaking for superior hearing, if not listening, skills.
The Benefits Of Pets For Children
Not only do children who grow up with pets have less risk of allergies and asthma, many also learn responsibility, compassion, and empathy from having a dog or cat.
- Unlike parents or teachers, pets are never critical and dont give orders. They are always loving and their mere presence at home can help provide a sense of security in children. Having an ever-present pet can help ease separation anxiety in children when mom and dad arent around.
- Having the love and companionship of a pet can make a child feel important and help them develop a positive self-image.
- Kids who are emotionally attached to their pets are better able to build relationships with other people.
- Studies have also shown that pets can help calm hyperactive or overly aggressive kids. Of course, both the animal and the child need to be trained to behave appropriately with each other.
- A pet can help develop a young and expanding mind by teaching a child empathy and understanding. Kids can talk with their pet without a fear of rejection, which enables them to build their confidence, and even their vocabulary.
- Getting even a small, caged pet, such as a guinea pig or hamster, is a great way to teach a child responsibility.

The Synonym For Dog Is Play
Talking about cats, they love to play with balls and string toys. But they are most likely to indulge you. They donât need you. Cats can play alone and be happy.
In the case of dogs, they love to play. Specifically, they love to play with you. Because they want to spend time with their parents as much as they can. You can play fetch with a disc or ball, tug of war with a piece of cloth or rope, play chase in the backyard, etc.
If your pooch loves the company of other dogs then you can even arrange a date for them.
They Can Keep You Warm
Warmth is important to humans and their survival. And this is true for dogs, too. As you know canines are pack animals and they hunt, eat, and travel together.
It does make sense though when youre out in the wild. And all the resources such as food and water are very limited. So for a creature like a wild dog to survive, they need their pack.
And since your dog considers you as part of their family, they might snuggle up to you. Part of the reason they do this is for warmth. Especially if you live somewhere cold.
A canines fur is an excellent insulator. Which means warmth can stay longer between the two of you. There also are dogs that are huge in size. If they lay on top of you, its like having your own weighted furry blanket.
It also benefits you and your electricity bill. Because if you feel warm when your dog is sleeping next to you, youll use less of the air conditioning or the central heating system during the night.

Dogs Are Better For Your Health
While research has shown that cats are great for emotional well-being and make great therapy animals, studies have shown that dogs are better for different aspects of our lives.
Research published in the European Journal of Medical Research found that dogs contribute positively to the lifestyle of older people, as well as helping them cover an average daily distance of 1,500 meters . A report by Harvard Medical School also links the ownership of a dog with a decreased risk of cardiovascular disease.
Dogs Have More Nerve Than Cats
Neuroscientist Suzana Herculano-Houzel studies animal intelligence by digging deep into gray matter. She liquifies animal brains to count their neurons. And what shes found is that dogs have twice as many neurons as cats.
Neurons process and send information throughout the central nervous system. Herculano-Houzels team tallied the number of neurons in the cerebral cortex the wrinkly outer layer of the brain of various species. The brains belonged to eight carnivorous mammals: cats and dogs, along with ferrets, mongooses, raccoons, hyenas, lions and brown bears. The study was published in late 2017 in the journal Frontiers in Neuroanatomy.
These were brains of already dead animals donated by a zoo, a forest preserve, a wildlife rehab facility and several pet owners.

They Can Help Rescue Teams
The power and usefulness of dogs dont stop in searching for truffles. Canines are also employed by search and rescue teams worldwide.
Whenever theres a calamity that leads to unfortunate deaths, dogs can help in finding them. The bodies usually are scattered. And with all the debris in the affected area, its time-consuming to remove them all first.
Having a canine to help pinpoint the location of bodies will make the mission more efficient.
Dogs that are trained for this important task can also save lives. Imagine a site where a building just collapsed due to an earthquake. Ambulance, fire trucks, police, and the military are everywhere.
The noise can drown out the screams or whistles of those trapped underneath. But with the help of dogs hearing, theres a huge chance theyll be saved.
They Can Help Track Truffles For You
Are you a foodie? Maybe this is Gordon Ramsey reading? If so, hi, Gordon!
Just kidding. But if you do have eternal love for food, then youll know how pricey truffles can be.
Its expensive because these are extremely rare and hard to find. However, the job of finding truffles can be easier with the help of canines.
And as rare as these mushrooms are, the dog breed that can help find these is, too. The canine that has been specifically bred to find truffles is the Lagotto Romagnolo.
If youve been to a fancy restaurant and ordered these mushrooms, its highly likely a canine found them. These dogs sniff out the ground in search of truffles and their handlers will then harvest them.

Dogs are really helpful to they help people that have trouble seeing. But again all cats do is sit on the couch and stare at people all day. Its like having a pet fish you can only feed it. SO YEAH DOGS ARE 100% BETTER THAN CATS!!!!
Theyll Listen To You If You Call Their Name
As mentioned earlier, canines have the ability to understand human words. And part of these phrases they learn is their names.
Dogs are able to listen and clearly differentiate the sound of their name. But the main reason why dogs know their name is because of positive reinforcement.
Using this technique to train your pooch to listen to their call sign is highly effective. The AKC also suggests this method of making your pooch learn their name.
This is beneficial because, during emergencies, its easy to call your pooch. If they are in danger, you can keep them away from it.
You can also fend intruders off easier if you can call your dogs to you.
Cats on the other hand would just ignore you if you call their names.

How Pets Can Help You Make Healthy Lifestyle Changes
Adopting healthy lifestyle changes plays an important role in easing symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, bipolar disorder, and PTSD. Caring for a pet can help you make healthy lifestyle changes by:
Increasing exercise. Taking a dog for a walk, hike, or run are fun and rewarding ways to fit healthy daily exercise into your schedule. Studies have shown that dog owners are far more likely to meet their daily exercise requirementsand exercising every day is great for the animal as well. It will deepen the connection between you, eradicate most behavior problems in dogs, and keep your pet fit and healthy.
Providing companionship. Companionship can help prevent illness and even add years to your life, while isolation and loneliness can trigger symptoms of depression. Caring for an animal can help make you feel needed and wanted, and take the focus away from your problems, especially if you live alone. Most dog and cat owners talk to their pets, some even use them to work through their troubles. And nothing beats loneliness like coming home to a wagging tail or purring cat.
Helping you meet new people. Pets can be a great social lubricant for their owners, helping you start and maintain new friendships. Dog owners frequently stop and talk to each other on walks, hikes, or in a dog park. Pet owners also meet new people in pet stores, clubs, and training classes.
Get a dog, lose weight
A number of studies have linked owning a dog to losing weight:
Training Is Easier In Dogs
Cats can be trained, but it is much more difficult to train a cat than a dog. The food-greedy cats can soon get bored of training and walk away. Or else, they will snatch the treats from your hand and walk away.
Dogs enjoy training sessions. I think they consider it as playtime. And we already know how much they love to play. Also, it is a sense of purpose for them. They find it as a job to be done.
Most of the dogs love attention and food. They will voluntarily sit, shake, stay, roll over, and lie down in an exchange for treats. Also, they feel proud when they do a good job and are appreciated by their owners.

Why Are Cats Good
They can: Lower stress and anxiety. Cat owners know how one session of petting or playing with their cat can turn a bad day into a good one. Scientific evidence also shows that a cats purr can calm your nervous system and lower your blood pressure.
Are cats cleaner than dogs?
Cats are, in fact, cleaner than dogs. Cats do not require as frequent bathing as dogs do due to their capacity and proclivity to clean and groom themselves. Most cats, especially those with medium to long fur, should be brushed on a regular basis.
Can a cat be evil?
If you read this column regularly, you probably already know the answer to that question is no. Cats are definitely not evil, mean, or vindictive by nature.
Are cats worse than dogs?
In general, dogs are better pets than cats. They walk, play fetch and interact with owners, whereas cats stalk around on their lonesome during nights dark hours. Although some may view dogs eager loyalty as a downside, companionship builds close relationships.
Why Is A Dog Better Than A Cat
One reason why dogs prove popular is that they train easier compared to cats. Dogs can be taught tricks, manners, behaviors, and commands. You can do this for protection and safety, obedience, and even simple amusement. Dogs actually love training because they love having tasks and being part of a pack.

A Dog Can Help People To Make Friends
Walking with a dog can even create more chances of friendly interactions. The cat owner cant experience this particular thing. The reason is cats usually remain in houses. As walking with this unique creature you may find another dog lover as well who will start asking about its name, breed info, etc. So yes in this way they can help people to make friends.
Dogs And Their Powerful Sniffers
Have you ever wondered why law enforcement officials will often use dogs to sniff out the bad guys, find drugs and vegetables, and even locate dead bodies? It is because they have an incredible sense of smell. To prove this point, it has been discovered by scientists recently that a dogs nose is so effective that it can spot the presence of ovarian cancer. This is quite the sniffer if you get right down to it. This is so important because ovarian cancer has been dubbed the silent killer because it does not typically show any symptoms in the victim until it is too late and cancer has spread too far in the body. A dog is able to sniff out ovarian cancer in the early stages. This is something that could prove life-saving if harnessed properly. It is also quite amazing if you think about. If you put certain cancer samples right up next to one another, a dog will be able to detect which one is ovarian. Can a cat do that? You probably already know the answer to that, so we will just move on.

Dog Cats Or Dogs Have A Better Sense Of Taste
Since smell and taste go together like queso and chips, we look again to Canidae to discover that dogs have about 1,700 taste buds and our feline friends have around 470. While omnivorous dogs can detect five different flavors of thingssweet, sour, bitter, salty and savory/meatycats can only taste four. Being obligate carnivores, they lost the ability to taste sweet things as they evolved because it just wasnt necessary. While many cat lovers would point out just how smart of cats this was, this one goes to the dogs.
You Can Play Obedience Games With Them
It makes fur parents happy when their pooch finally understands their commands. Weeks of training paying off? Thats one for the books.
Even I got ecstatic when I saw my Lissa follow her potty training. And this isnt just the only thing you can train your dog for. Canines are smart lets utilize their mental capacities.
You can make your dog follow vocal cues. There are ones you can do while youre out on a walk such as:
- Stop that.
- Roll over.
Now, all these might look like doing work to you. But to canines, work and play can be intertwined. As long as they have physical activities and they are mentally stimulated, your dog is happy.
If you want to show off your dogs skills, you can also train them to do tricks. Like walking on their hind legs, twirling, playing dead, etc.
With cats, its far harder to train them to follow the commands mentioned above.

Do Cats Or Dogs Cost More To Live With
Though this is probably the last thing on your mind, especially if you have already self-identified as a dog person or cat person, it is an interesting questionespecially seeing as cats tend to live longer. Weve taken a deep dive into the cost of owning a dog versus the cost of owning a cat and it looks like cats are actually more budget-friendly. Cats dont require all the accoutrements of dogs and because many are indoors-only they tend to require less vet care.
Are Cats Better Than Dogs
Granted, the questions explored here come from the oft-asked grab bag versus a truly scientific line of inquiry but for our purposes, the research is clearscience has spoken and science says cats RULE. The great thing about science, though, is it can always be disproved. Perhaps someday dogs will get their day.

Dogs Can Be Taught And Trained Easily
You can teach your fido much more easily than those cute little furballs. You can train dogs tricks, manners, behaviors, and commands, and they will be doing it exactly how you told them. Try to prepare a kitty, and she wont even glance in your direction the next time you call her! IT will Lead to my second point, giving Training to the dogs. We can train doggies more easily and effectively in less time than kitties. They can be crate trained, and you will see them considering crates their territory. They would relax there most of the time. Right Training and a stern voice are all they need.
Try limiting cats in any specific cage or boundary, and you will notice them hiding in small spaces you cant reach to avoid Training.
