How To Clean Cat Urine From Your Upholstery

HOW TO CLEAN A CAT TREE NATURALLY STEP BY STEP Featuring: My British Longhair Cats Milo And Ava

When it is not possible to remove the cover of your couch or chair upholstery, observe the following cleaning procedures to get the cat urine out:

Dab stubborn stains with a soft, clean white cloth or absorbent paper towel. If solvents are required, avoid applying them directly onto the stain, and pour it onto a clean cloth. Clean the stain using a circular motion working from the outside inwards. After removing the stain, dry immediately with a handheld hairdryer using a cool setting. Take care to direct the air stream first towards the outside of the area, working inwards. Always be careful to rub any stains gently and to use a brush with soft bristles.

And Here Are My Treated Branches Finished

You can see that the pieces have just the right amount of sheen for what I wanted. I wanted them to look polished but not super shiny and fake, and I think the water-based poly in satin really achieved that look.

They do look a but shinier in personthis was hard to capture in photos. If you want them to look like these pictures, Id err on the side of caution and go with a matte water-based formula. You can always add a layer of satin on top of the matte if you dont love it.

You can see the cat tree made out of a real tree build that these branches were finished for as well! And I also did a post about how the tree held up years later because I get a lot of questions about it. This is probably my favorite project of all time.

Also, while making the cat tree, we have to level off the branches. After all this work staining and finishing the branches, I couldnt bear throwing out scraps we had to cut off. So I made a tiny faux succulent planter out of one of the branch pieces. Its a cute and easy DIY!

Initially, you will need a paper towel and an odor remover. Take the hydrogen peroxide on the paper towel, and rub it over the surface of the cat tree. Dont leave any carpeted areas. Nevertheless, there is nothing too complicated in using these components. Moreover, the hydrogen peroxide on your cat tree does a fabulous job of killing bacteria.

Then you can spray the odor remover on the cat tree. Dont forget to use the hydrogen peroxide and the odor remover at every corner of the cat tree. It includes the cat condos as well. After spraying the odor remover, leave the cat tree for five minutes to eliminate all the odors.

Step #2: Use a Scraping Sponge
Step #3: Do A Final Pass With The Hydrogen Peroxide

Is It Safe To Buy A Used Cat Tree

f you want to make Cleaning Your Cat

Generally, buying a second-hand cat tree isnt a good idea. The used product can introduce unwanted stress, illness, and even behavioral issues to your feline. Furthermore, your pet may leave the tree alone if the product had a previous owner. Its because another cat marked the tree and its surfaces, making it the other animals territory.

Also, the cat trees poles might have some leftover catnip from the previous owner. If you dont remove the catnip, itll desensitize your feline from the substance, making it tougher than average to train your pet to do certain actions.

    Off the Shelf Cleaners

Buying a carpet cleaner off the shelf can be an issue when you want to use it to clean the cat tree house. Unlike with the normal carpet in your home, a cat will tend to nibble the carpet on the tree and rub its body on it instead of clawing at it. This is because many of these trees are treated with catnip or catnip oil. It is imperative that you read the cleaner label and make sure that it is safe for animals to be exposed to.

    No Suds

Cleaning a cat tree house carpet with a carpet cleaner that creates suds could be harmful since residue from the soap still remains in the fibers of the carpet, and the cat may nibble on the carpet. This will lead to them ingesting the soap, which can cause bad stomach issues.

Remember that by regularly brushing your cat you can stop it swallowing hairballs or dirt and prevent the appearance of parasites. Find a brush that it likes, so that you can spend time with it and make it feel comfortable when it’s by your side.

    S To Clean The Furniture:

  • If your furniture piece is a tower with several sections, begin by disassembling it into sections .
  • Vacuum each section thoroughly to remove as much of the loose pet hair and dander as possible.
  • If there is a lot of hair sticking, there are several steps that can be taken to help loosen it for easier removal.
  • While wearing a rubber glove , run your hand under water. Shake off the excess water so that the glove is just lightly moist. Rub the glove over the surface in short strokes to lift the hair and bring it to the surface. Vacuum again.
  • Moisten a regular kitchen sponge or cloth with water. Squeeze out the excess water so it is just damp. Rub the sponge over the surface to gather the hair into clumps. Remove by vacuuming or just picking off the clumps by hand.
  • A lint roller works well to pull hairs out that are stuck down in the carpet fibers. Rub a lint roller over the surface or wrap wide tape around your hand and press it on the carpet. This works well for tight spaces and corners.
  • Once most of the hair has been removed, you are ready to tackle any stains that may have developed.
  • Mix a small amount of water with cat shampoo until suds begin to form.
  • Moisten a soft cloth or sponge with the soapy water and scrub away the stains. If you have a carpet cleaner with an upholstery attachment, it will make the job even easier.
  • Rinse well with clean water and blot the area with a dry cloth.
  • Allow it to dry completely.
  • Once clean and dry, reassemble the unit.
  • How Do You Disinfect A Cat Tree

Cleaning a cat tree the traditional way sometimes just doesnt cut it. It wont get rid of all the bacteria and other microorganisms. Here is a step-by-step approach to deep cleaning and disinfecting your cat tree:

  • Disinfect: Lots of cleaning products are available online that are combinations of hydrogen peroxide and water. Spray this solution all over the cat tree including the scratching post, hammocks, burrows etc. Leave it on for a few minutes and then wipe all the surfaces with a dry towel or tissues. Dont let you cat climb the tree while you do this step.
  • Soap and rinse: Just like you do the dishes, take some dish soap on a sponge, dip it in some water and Ruba-dub-dub! As before, cover all surfaces. Take another wet towel and wipe away all the foam and soap.
  • Dry it out: Take a clean towel and dry out the entire cat tree. Some moisture may persist. If this is the case, use a hairdryer or fan. Alternatively, you can leave the tree to soak in some sunlight or next to a heater. Make sure it dries out within an hour or two so it doesnt create another microenvironment inviting more bacteria.
