Thoughts On Is Fancy Feast Good For Cats The Answer Might Surprise You
Hi Ruby! I just got my cat Marley and I was feeding him a high brand canned wet food, cant remember the name, but it was getting expensive so I read some articles that said fancy feast is the best for a budget. But then I started researching homemade cat food and I came across this page. I had no idea about fancy feasts, and I hadnt even bothered to read the labels. I feel like a bad fur parent now I wonder if you have any suggestions for wet food, or if you have any experience with homemade food?
Memo In the interest of your pets, do some more research. Iams food is very low quality as well, for both dogs and cats. Spend a little more, and combine raw Stella & Chewys or Primal, and mix in a QUALITY dry good like Orijen/Acana , or Fromm. Mix in some Primal bone broth too. Do this and it will give your pets a much better chance of living into their 20s like mine have. FYI .. I came across this info after years of trial and error myself. I too used t think that Iams, Science Diet etc.. were good foods. They are not. My vet will tell you the same thing. Take care -KLE-
Absolutely this. From what I can tell, the classic varieties have no corn, no wheat, no rice, and some even have no fish. Im sure that the ingredients arent as high quality as some better foods like Wellness but its still a good step in the right direction . The author needs to do a little more research rather than making assumptions based on a single variety of a whole line of foods .

Causes Of Fancy Feast Allergy In Cats
When the immune system develops a sensitivity to a certain food, a food allergy can occur. This commonly happens with a food that has been fed day after day for years. After your cat has eaten that food repeatedly, the immune system responds by producing a larger than normal amount of antibodies to remove the foreign invaders. As the antibodies attack, histamine is released, the chemical responsible for producing the symptoms of an allergic reaction.
When your cats ancestors were wild, their diet consisted mainly of animal proteins. The only vegetable matter wild cats ate would have been found in small amounts in the prey animals gastrointestinal tract. There certainly werent any artificial colors, dyes, or preservatives in the diet.
Today, commercial pet foods are filled with things that cats are not biologically programmed to process. This can cause those inappropriate food items to sit in your cats digestive system without getting processed, and this can trigger the immune response to attack. Vomiting up food and the appearance of bumps on the skin are the bodys way of trying to eliminate the allergens.
What Should I Look For In Wet Cat Food
When checking the ingredients label, look for grains like wheat, corn, soy, rice or anything with starch in the name, as well as white potatoes and pulses like lentils. Whether youre looking for a low-carbohydrate cat food in particular or just a balanced and complete meal, counting carbs counts for cats!

Wet Food Vs Dry Food:
For diabetic cats, one needs to decide the choice of what to feed very carefully.
Keeping in view the blood sugar level in the cats body, the food must be chosen fairly. Hence, the debate comes to whether to feed wet or dry food.
Following the reasons that wet food is way better than dry food as a choice for diabetic cats:
· The Carbohydrate quantity:
When you look through the wet food components, they are low in carbohydrate quantities, in contrast to the dry foods for felines.
Thus, the lower carbohydrate is much needed for diabetic cats. That is why wet cat food is usually prescribed for older cats.
· The Water Content:
Wet foods also known as liquid foods, offer more water content to the felines as compared to dry foods.
Water is very much essential and preferable for diabetic felines.
Therefore, wet food is again another good option for cats that have already high blood sugar levels. Water is needed to maintain the level of sugar in some instances.
Precautions for wet food:
Wet foods are a good option, but they also needed to have a proper check and balance. You must check the wet food components to know about the carbohydrate content in them.
- Only choose the wet food with lower carbohydrates.
- Try to elude the gravy of the wet foods. The gravy has the most carbohydrate content in it.
A Cooked Diet: The Risks And The Rewards
The main risk of a cooked cat diet is that you can choose the wrong quantity and proportion of ingredients when making homemade food for your small favorite. But you can remedy that! Just be very careful because a cooked diet can be so beneficial for your pet. It can help you eliminate harmful commercial food from your cats diet. Homemade food also contains more vitamins, minerals and useful nutrients and that positively affects your cats well-being.

Dogs get into cat food all of the time. Some steal from the cats bowl, others break into food bags and containers. Eating cat food on occasion may lead to nothing more than vomiting and diarrhea, but this can vary from dog to dog. If your dog exhibits signs of intestinal discomfort after eating cat food, call your veterinarian.
If your dog regularly gets into cat food, it is best change where you keep your cats food or where and how you feed your cat.
As a general rule, try to discourage your dog from eating cat food unsupervised by placing it out of his reach. As always, pay attention to your dogs reaction when feeding him something new and talk to your veterinarian about any concerns you may have.

What Is Fancy Feast Allergy
A sensitivity to a particular food item can occur at any age, and often develops for a food that your cat has been eating for a long time. It may be difficult to know exactly which part of your cats diet may be causing problems in her immune system, as canned pet foods such as Fancy Feast also contain many artificial flavorings, colors, emulsifiers, and preservatives that can trigger an allergic response. Popular proteins, such as chicken and seafood, are also common allergens seen in cats.
Many cat owners are delighted with the cost and availability of Fancy Feast foods. But while their cats seem to enjoy the taste, they may also be developing an allergy to one or more ingredients in the food. Cats can become allergic to meat proteins, corn, grain, or soy, or even to the artificial dyes and preservatives that are often used in many popular pet foods. The resultant digestive and skin complaints can be a signal that your kitty has become sensitive to something in her diet.

There are plenty of essential vitamins and minerals in this particular product, which will ensure that your cat stays on a healthy diet. The only real problem with this product is that it also consists of by-products and grains that most cat parents dislike giving their cats.

Cats Vs Dogs: Nutrition
Cats and dogs have different dietary requirements. Cats are obligate carnivores, which means that cats must eat meat. Its a biological necessity. Dogs, contrary to some beliefs, are omnivores, which means they eat meat and vegetables, so they need a more varied diet than just meat alone to meet their nutritional requirements.
Cat food is much higher in meat-based protein than dog food. This might be why cat food is so appealing to dogs, since the meat smell and flavor are so strong. However, just because dogs crave it doesnt mean they should eat it.
Unless your veterinarian recommends otherwise, the best food for your dog is dog food, not cat food.
