Siberian Cats With Children And Other Pets

Siberian Forest Cat Breeders Minnesota

From Russia with love: thats the Siberian, a glamorous native cat from the taiga of Siberia, a forested area with a subarctic climate that no doubt contributed to this cats long, thick, protective coat.

The Siberian has a bold temperament, and nothing much ruffles his composure. These characteristics make him an excellent choice for a family with kids. No nighttime monsters will get past the Siberian on guard at the foot of a childs bed. He is happy to live with other cats and cat-friendly dogs, too, as long as they recognize that hes in charge. Introduce pets slowly and in controlled circumstances to ensure that they learn to get along together.

Color And Type Of Coat

The Siberian forest cat has a coarse, dense topcoat and soft, dense underpants. The shiny awn is water-repellent. It completely covers the back and evenly falls on the sides and base of the Siberians tail.

On a note. The winter coat of Siberian cats is much longer than the summer coat. In the cold season, they have a chic collar and fluffy pants. In warm weather, a Siberian can look like a smooth-haired cat.

Cats of this breed have several color options. According to the standard, the color of Siberians can be:

  • Solid of varying intensity. The main monochromatic colors include red and black. Each of them has a clarified counterpart. Red corresponds to a cream shade, black gray . The white Siberian cat is considered a rarity and cannot have any patterns or blotches on the coat.
  • Tortoiseshell color is a combination of several shades. In fact, it is a three-colored cat, on the body of which white markings are evenly distributed, as well as cream and blue or red and black spots. Tortoiseshell coloration is typical for females. Siberian cats of this color are born extremely rarely and, as a rule, do not give offspring.
  • Smoky and silvery. Such Siberians have a two-tone coat. Their hairs have a white base and a dyed tip. Silver Siberian cats have a pattern, smoky cats do not.
  • Tabby . This color is an alternation of dark and light pigments, which creates a spotted, brindle, or marble pattern on the Siberians body.
  • the tip and light at the base.
  • Be Patient While Searching

Siberian cats are not common in rescues, but they do appear. It will just take some time to find your perfect companion. Instead of buying a cat from a breeder, you can rescue a cat for a minimal price and give that cat a better life while helping to reduce the number of homeless animals. Rescuing a Siberian cat will be a meaningful experience that both you and your kitty will appreciate.

How Do I Recognize A Reputable Breeder

First, make sure that the dog breed leaves a clean and well-groomed impression. The following points can also help you buy puppies from a reputable cat breeder:

    • Do all kittens look lively and healthy?
    • Are the parent cats on-site? Are you allowed to visit the Kittens ?
    • Is the breeder interested in your living conditions?
    • Would they like to know as precisely as possible where their kittens will live?
    • Does the cat breeder take special measures to give their kittens a good start in life?
    • For example, do the kittens get to know car journeys and train journeys?
    • Are they used to other pets and children?
    • Does the breeder grant themself a right of repurchase in the event that the buyer wants to give their cat back?

Are Siberian Cats Good Family Pets

    Siberian Kittens playing

Native to the Taiga of Siberia and referred to as a Russian treasure, you may assume that Siberian cats are happier in colder climates and with relative solitude.

This really couldnt be further from the truth.

Siberians are a very social and affectionate breed and are extremely playful and curious as kittens.

They prefer busier households for these reasons, so theyre not ideal if youre going to be out at work all day.

Siberians are intelligent and will get bored easily. When cats get bored thats when they tend to get mischievous or damage things, so thats something to keep in mind.

Theyre big cats weighing around 8-17 lbs full grown, and have magnificent coats. Youll need to brush your cat a couple of times a week, but thats more of a bonding session than a chore.

So, if youre after a hypoallergenic, large, mild-natured cat with a big personality I think a Siberian is perfect for you.

    Very Affectionate Siberian Kittens

Unlike many breeds this breed will come over and greet the stranger. They are very intelligent and learn quickly and even problem solve to get what they want. They love to be spoken to and will come running if called by name. Our siberian cats for sale are very amazing

What Makes The Siberian Cats So Special

Appearance: Siberians are one of the most handsome breeds of cat with rounded features, sweet faced with a compact body consisting of strong back legs and big feet that have tufts of fur that wrap their paws in warmth. Delicate wisps of fur in their ears with fur points at the top and a huge ruff that makes them look very regal, complete with a beautiful long full tail.

Easy Care:Less shedding, due to a triple coat of fur, they “molt’ in the spring and then little or no shedding the rest of the year. The triple coat of fur also makes them look bigger than they actually are, and provides the perfect defense against the winter chill. Wrapped in a mid-length coat of fur that consists of a soft under coat, a top coat that is less dense but waterproof and long guide hairs that keep the coat almost maintenance free.

Hypo-Allergenic: Siberians have little or no Fel-D-1 protein that most allergic people have reactions to. This protein is secreted through the saliva glands and when the cat grooms itself, this protein dries and is spread as dander. This breed is the answer to many allergy prone cat lovers the world over who can now own a cat!

Are Siberian Cats Good For Allergy Sufferers

One of the main reasons a lot of people start considering a Siberian cat its because they are marketed as hypoallergenic.

Its true too, in the fact that a lot of allergy sufferers can be around Siberians without having a reaction.

The reason is because the allergen cats produce that causes reactions, which is called FelD1, is produced in a lower concentration by Siberians.

They do still produce this allergen, however, so some sufferers do still experience an allergic reaction. Albeit a much milder one, if at all.

If youre buying a Siberian because you or someone else in your household are allergic to cats, I recommend spending some time with a Siberian before committing just to be sure.

Siberian Cats Are A Healthy Breed

Siberian cats developed over thousands of years in the Siberian forests of Russia as a fully natural breed with minimal human manipulation. Our Neva Masquerades have been bred to not only have stunning looks but live long, healthy lives with their families. Verify The Rescue’s Legitimacy

Any legitimate rescue group will ask you to fill out an adoption form and will request an adoption fee. This fee is much less than what a breeder charges.

Forms that should be included with your cat adoption:

    • Dates vaccinations were received, check to make sure the cat is up to date on all needed vaccines
    • Results from Feline Aids test
    • Medication information if the cat was ill while in the rescue’s care
    • Paperwork from the prior owner if the pet was surrendered to the rescue

How To Choose A Siberian Kitten

    Siberian Cat Breeders in Minnesota

In order not to become a victim of scammers, it is better to look for a potential cat in certified nurseries or trusted breeders. It is advisable to buy a Siberian no earlier than he is 3-3.5 months old. By this age, it will already have all the vaccinations and documents on belonging to the breed.

Kittens should be curious, well-groomed, and well-fed. They should not have a bloated stomach, sour eyes, matted hair, stench from the mouth, discharge from the ears, dirt under the tail, and scratching of the skin.

What Makes A Serious Cat Breeder

A reputable breeder is dedicated to their breed and usually only breeds this one breed. The prices that cat breeders charge for their Kittens mostly flow back into cat breeding. A profit is hardly achieved with good and species-appropriate husbandry. A serious breeder does not sell their Kittens to everyone but is interested in finding the right family for their Kittens.
