How To Attach A Carrycot To A Baby Jogger City Mini

How to Get Cat Urine Out of a Mattress

The Baby Jogger City Mini is one of the best selling strollers in its class at Amazon. The three models available are:

  • Standard version without car seat attachments which can be purchased separately for around $100 each
  • A slightly lighter model with a cup holder, parent tray and adjustable handlebar that comes with an infant car seat adapter for about $300 350 depending on colour choice
  • An updated 2016 edition that weighs even less than previous versions but doesnt come with accessories like the other two options. This also has small wheels along the back to make it easier to turn corners if needed. However, this may not work well when used off-road or over rougher terrains, and the price is around $400 450.

But First Why Does Urine Smell Bad

Pee is metabolic waste made up of uric acid and urea, among other things, and when it sits around for a while, bacteria begin to decompose the urea and give off that tell-tale ammonia odor.

Youâve probably noticed that human pee doesnât have much of a scent, dog pee is a little worse, and cat pee is the be-all-end-all of disgusting smells. Thatâs because human and dog pee smells are more diluted than cat pee, so thereâs not as much urea for the bacteria to decompose.

GROVE TIP

What Is The Difference Between Baby Jogger City Mini And Gt

The main difference between these two models is the swivel front wheel which can be locked in place for rougher terrain. The GT also has a more comfortable handlebar and tires that are better suited to off-roading as it comes with larger air-filled rubber wheels.

However, both city minis have slightly smaller storage baskets than other strollers of similar size but you can purchase an attachment that will allow parents to expand this area greatly if needed .

Also, they dont come with car seat adapters meaning most babies need to switch into their car seat before placing them back into the stroller unless you buy one separately or remove your infant directly from the crib/bassinet without disturbing him/them her too much.

As a side note, all three models of city minis have been recalled so you will need to check if this affects your specific model before purchasing.

How To Clean Up Pet Urine From A Mattress

Cleaning up human urine is relatively straightforward. Mopping up after pets, however, is a different story. Pet urine, especially from cats, tends to smell much more strongly than human pee. Their bodies remove different types of compounds from their bloodstreams, many of which smell far more than ours.;

If you notice fresh pet urine on your bed, you may need to take a different approach from the one we discussed above. A mixture of vinegar and water might not be sufficient to deal with the problem.;

We recommend skipping straight to the hydrogen peroxide formula described above for dealing with dried-on urine stains. This formula contains powerful agents that help to neutralize bedding and remove the effects of the smell of the pee entirely.;

If you notice a recent accident, put on some gloves, blot the area and then sprinkle with baking soda. The baking soda will turn darker over time as it absorbs the pee inside the mattress and draws it out. Then vacuum the mattress and remove all of the baking soda from the bedding. If the smell persists, then try using the above method for removing dried-on urine.

In summary, cleaning urine from a Tempur-pedic mattress is possible. Whats more, it is something that you can do with regular dollar-store equipment and materials. You dont have to throw out your old mattress and start again, helping to keep your bank balance healthy.;

Is It The Same Process For Pet Urine

How to Get Cat or Dog Pee out of Mattress | Carpet Cleaner? Baking Soda? Nature’s Miracle?

Yes, with one exception. If your pet has urinated on the bed, youll have to be extra diligent in getting rid of the smell. Pets sensitive noses mean that if they smell even the hint of urine , theyll continue to urinate there because they think its somewhere theyre supposed to go.

So, if it was a tiny human who made the accident, youre not likely to smell anything lingering once you remove the stain. However, if your pet was responsible for the accident, you have to make sure you eliminate any trace of an odor. Thats why I recommend an enzymatic cleaner in the case of a pet accident.

If you have a ceiling fan, turn it on, or run a stand alone fan if you can. At the very least open the windows. The increased air flow helps to speed up the process. . Ive seen a lot of methods that call for diluting the vinegar but that just didnt seem to work as well. The straight vinegar is very strong and really helps to pull out that nasty urine odor.
  • Using paper towels or rags, soak up the vinegar. Press several layers of paper towels into the mattress for this step.
  • Sprinkle baking soda all over the mattress. You can get real fancy and use a sieve or a sifter for this step, but I dont think its necessary. If there are a lot of clumps just break them up with your fingers. Were going for simple and quick with this mattress cleaner. Let the baking soda sit for several hours. The longer the better, but Ive gone from two to five hours and both times it worked perfectly. After a couple of hours, youll begin to see the baking soda caking as it soaks up the vinegar .
  • Vacuum up the baking soda from the mattress. Make sure to go over the crevices several times. It makes me kinda happy making those lines in the powder with the vacuum cleaner.
  • Thats it! If you have some really difficult stains, rub the vinegar into them with your fingers or even use an old toothbrush to really rub it in.

    Now if I could just get him to make the bed

    Repeat Steps Two And Three

    After your vinegar solution has sat for at least 15 minutes, cover the stained area with baking soda again. Let the area sit undisturbed for eight to ten hours this time. When the time comes, vacuum the dried baking soda up again.

    The urine should be gone at this point, but some stains are tough. If you can still see the stain or smell the urine odor, repeat the entire process until you cant.

    Here a few easy steps you can take to remove the cat pee smell from a cushion.

    1. Soak the Area in Water

    Soak the affected area of the cushion with water. Blot up as much of the cat urine as possible with a towel.

    2. Soak the Area With an Enzyme Cleaner

    Then soak the cushion by very slowly, pouring the enzyme cleaner on and around the affected area.

    3. Let It Sit Before Blotting With Towels

    Let it sit for 15 minutes, then squish out as much of the excess enzyme cleaner as possible before blotting with towels.

    4. Let the Cushion Dry

    If possible, leave the cushion outside as long as possible while it dries. Since cushions take days to dry, lay aluminum foil down before putting the cushion back, then put a second layer of foil over the top of the cushion to discourage your cat from peeing on the cushion again.

    Mattresses require almost the same process as cushions.

    1. Soak the Area in Water

    Soak the affected area of the mattress with water. Blot up as much of the cat urine as possible with a towel.

    How To Clean A Mattress With Dog Pee

    If stains have already set in before you get to the cleanup process, you may need to use a heavier cleaning solution. For this, you will need baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and dish soap.

  • Create a solution using 8 ounces of hydrogen peroxide, 3 tablespoons of baking soda, and 2 to 4 drops of dish soap or liquid laundry detergent.
  • Using a spray bottle, apply the solution generously to any stained areas, allowing the mixture to soak in.
  • Wait for the mixture to dry. A solid baking soda residue layer will form after a few hours.
  • Vacuum off the baking soda and check to see if the stain remains.
  • Repeat as needed.
  • This process uses a tougher cleaning solution that you allow to fully soak into the stained area. As the solution dries and the peroxide evaporates, the urine is drawn upwards with the baking soda. This helps to neutralize both stains and smells.

    Keep in mind that peroxide can bleach some materials, so you may want to test it on a small, inconspicuous area before using it on larger stains. Peroxide may also slightly damage or discolor materials like memory foam. Use it sparingly, and be sure to remove any colored bedding from the area to avoid bleaching.

    If the smell or stain isnt budging, it may be time to pull out the big guns. Reach for an enzymatic cleaner, such as OxiClean, for this scenario. Enzymatic cleaners contain powerful ingredients that break down stains. For urine, look for cleaners with protease enzymes, specifically.

    What you’ll need:

    • Dry rag or paper towels
    • Baking soda

    Apply A Cleaning Solution To The Stain

    In your spray bottle, mix one cup of vinegar with two cups of cold water and two to three tablespoons of laundry detergent. If you dont have vinegar on hand, you can also create a solution using eight ounces of hydrogen peroxide, three tablespoons of more baking soda, and a few drops of liquid detergent.

    Spray this mixture over the stain until it is completely soaked. Allow it to sit for at least 15 minutes. Now, you can use a paper towel or cloth to blot away any excess liquid.
