Cat Peeing In Laundry Basket

Why Do Cats Keep Peeing In The Hamper Over And Over Again

A cat peed on a laundry basket OH ! NO!!!!!!

If your cat has a habit of peeing in the laundry hamper, you need to get them to stop this habit and clean that area.

The reason is when cats pee in one place, they tend to pee on the same spot again. This is because they find the hamper comfortable and they can also find the same hamper spot owing to their strong-smelling instincts.

Reason #: Youre Using The Wrong Litter Box

This, it turns out, was the reason why my cat started getting into the habit of not only peeing on my clothes but also around his kitty litter box.The last thing your cat wants is to be inconvenienced when he or she needs to relieve himself or herself. When your cat doesnt feel comfortable using the litter box you have or find it too high or too small, your cat would prefer to do his or her business elsewhere.

Solution

Make sure that you give your cat a kitty litter box thats large enough for him or her to move around and do his or her digging and cover the mess after. Once you see your cat starting to scratch on the side of the walls of his or her kitty litter or scratch outside the box, thats a sign that your cat has outgrown his or her kitty litter box and its time to get a new one. That was exactly the case with my cat. Up until recently, the kitty litter box he’s using was the one that I got for him when he was still a kitten. It turned out that he barely had enough space in his litter box for him to fit. When I got him a much larger one, he kicked the habit.

OMG!! I will have a cat up for adoption soon.My laundry is down in the cellar. A few feet away is the cat’s litterbox .The kids will dump their dirty laundry on the floor in front of the washer and dryer. When I go to sort them into piles, I am overwhelmed with the smell of cat urine. On the light colored clothes and white towels and sheets, I can see the urine!!!!OK, her litter box is inches away, but she prefers to settle in on top of a pile of clothes and pee? Looks like she is only using the litter box to poop. Time to get a tall hamper I guess.

My cat started doing this with the bath mat at first. I finally realized I couldn’t have a rug in my bathroom and had to use towels like they do in hotels. Once I removed his spot from the bathroom he went after anything that didn’t make it in the hamper. I just had to make sure the kids didn’t leave towels on the bathroom floor and that all clothes were in the hamper.I can’t even tell you how many towels and sweatshirts I had to throw away because cat urine is one thing that you can never fully remove the smell. No matter how many washes.

Why Do Older Cats Start Peeing In The House

Why Is My Cat Peeing on My Clothes?

Cats enjoy routine and doing things their own way, especially senior cats. A sudden change or interruption in their routine may be the cause of their peeing all over the home. Moving to a new house, bringing home a new pet, a sudden surge of visitors, or even abnormally loud noises can all cause your cat stress.

Completely Eliminate The Smell Of Cat Urine From The Laundry Basket

If the smell of the cats urine remains in the basket, then because of that she urinates there again. Wash the baskets with vinegar. If cats can smell urine, theyll pee in the same area over and over in this case, your laundry basket.

Using only soap and water is unlikely to get rid of the smell completely, so try vinegar. If the odor persists, simply use the best laundry detergent for pet urine you can find to get rid of the cat pee smell.

Otherwise, you can replace the baskets, this may be the only last way to destroy Kittys magnetic attraction.

Reason #: Your Cats Pissed At You

Your cat’s got feelings, too. Your cat can get angry with after getting scolded. He or she can also get jealous when there is a new addition to your home that they view is stealing the time and affection thats supposed to be for them like if you adopt a new pet, have a baby or probably just swamped with work. In some cases, they can also feel troubled or upset if something has changed that he or she doesn’t like, such as when you move to another house. Peeing on your clothes and even on your furniture can be your cat’s way of expressing these unpleasant feelings.

Tiny 3 Week Old Tortie Foster Kitten Meows & Then Pees In Laundry Basket – Funny!

It’s important to understand why your cat is peeing inappropriately in order to solve the problem. Cats pee on their human’s bed or outside their litter box for certain reasons.

Medical Problems. Your cats peeing issue may be because of a health problem. Talk with your vet if you’re concerned about your cat’s health. They may want to look at your cat and take a urine sample. Once your vet has completed tests on the sample, they will have an idea of the best treatment. Your cat may get pee problems due to any of the following conditions:

  • Urinary tract infection.Kittens rarely develop urinary tract infections, but older cats are more likely to develop an infection. If this is the case, the urinary tract system may be infected by bacteria which causes inflammation. Your vet may suggest antibiotics for the treatment. Once the antibiotic treatment is finished, your vet will recommend follow-up testing to make sure the infection is gone.
  • Metabolic disease. Excessive peeing may be caused by kidney disease. It may also be a result of diabetes or thyroid problems. Your vet may run some blood tests to rule out these conditions.
  • Bladder stones: If your cat has developed bladder stones, they may cause blockage or irritation. Your vet may order X-rays to check the size of the stones. While large stones can be removed surgically, smaller stones can be dissolved using a special diet.

Reason #: Dirty Kitty Litter Box

Believe it or not, another reason why do cats pee on clothes is that their kitty litter box is just way too dirty. Cats don’t like the smell of their pee or their poo. So if the smell coming from their litter box is already overpowering for them, they will not use it until you clean it.

Solution

Make it a habit of scooping out the gunk from your cat’s kitty litter box at least once a day, and replace the content with fresh kitty litter at least once a week. Getting a kitty litter box that automatically cleans itself can also help you make sure that your cats kitty litter box is always clean and ready to be used.

FELINE INAPPROPRIATE URINATION:

Most households want their cats to use the litter box. So urinating on the couch, bed, wall, rugs, and ceramic tile, or in the bathtub, laundry basket, or kitchen sink is just not appropriate! And thats what we mean by inappropriate urination.

Inappropriate urination is, unfortunately, too common. All of us have known of cats with this unwanted habit. Many get labeled as lost causes. But we can help the vast majority of these cats. With a little detective work, the underlying cause can be found. Uncover the cause, implement the fix, and voila!

There is Always A Message In Outside the Box Eliminating

Consider inappropriate urination a message from the cat. Something is wrong and the cat is letting you know. The cat is not acting out, but asking for help. I have yet to meet a cat that did not, as a kitten, use a litter box. I have taken in feral cats and kittens ranging in age from one day to many years, and each and everyone has used a litter box. Even the youngest, motherless kitten will rapidly grasp the use of a litter box when placed in one. This is because cats have a natural affinity for sandy substrates. They want to dig in soil before they eliminate. They do not naturally choose flat, smooth, or cloth-like surfaces.

General Cat Pee Removal Guidelines:

  • Eek! Whereâs the pee?! First, track down the source of the smell. And do it quickly. The longer the cat pee sits on your mattress or couch, the worse itâs going to smell.
  • Blot with COLD water. Once youâve located the cat pee spot, youâll want to use cold water and paper towels or an old rag to blot the spot, absorbing as much as the cat pee as possible. If youâve got an extracting wet vac on hand, feel free to use that on the cold setting. Do not scrub, that will just make the cat pee angrier and more resilient, rubbing it further into the couch, floor, or garment.
  • Neutralize it! Then youâre going to want to douse the spot with an enzymatic cleaner or simply make your own cleaning solution by combining vinegar and water in a 1:1 ratio. Because the vinegar is acidic, it will neutralize the bacteria in the cat pee, offsetting its odor. Let the solution sit for 3-5 minutes or carefully follow the instructions on the cleaning productâs label.
  • Rinse + Repeat. Using a fresh paper towel or wet rag, do one more quick once over the stained spot. If youâre using a wet rag, remember to use cold water.
  • Freshen up! For additional freshness, try using once itâs completely dry. You can also use around the litter box area to dull that lingering cat pee odor.

Two: Pretreat The Cat Pee

My Cat Keeps Peeing In My Laundry Basket

You have two options here: pantry or purchased.

Pro tip: Never use bleach on cat urine. Bleach plus the ammonia in cat urine can create dangerous gases. Also, never use ammonia to pretreat cat urine stains. Ammonia is one component of cat urine, so if cats smell that on clothing, they may try to go on it again. And chemical cleaners containing ammonia can set the stain.

Reason #: Your Cat Is Marking His Or Her Territory

Adopting a new kitten can be another reason why do cats pee on your clothes, especially if both of them are male.Part of the nature of male cats is to claim ownership to their territory. Peeing is their way of leaving their mark so to speak, and telling the newcomer whos the boss in the house.

Solution

The way how your cat reacts to a newly adopted kitten is no different from the way how your child reacts when you come home with a new baby. Instead of welcoming the newest addition to the family, your cat sees your newly adopted kitten as a threat not just for your affection, but also to himself.Again, spending time and showering your cat with love and affection is the way to go. You also need to show your cat that the new addition to the family is not a threat. Rather, a potential playmate.

The Reasons Cats Pee On Plastic Sacks Is Because

Cats that start urinating outside of their litter box may have a UTI or another health problem. My cat peed in a laundry basket when he had a bladder infection. He also urinated on plastic handle bags whenever he had the chance.

When my cat started peeing outside of the litter box I knew he was sick. The vet found crystallized urine in his bladder. Stones can form and cause a dangerous obstruction if the problem isnt treated.

Antibiotics were prescribed and they cured the illness, but he continued to pee in unacceptable places. I had to do more to stop my cat from peeing on plastic throughout the house.

How To Stop Your Cat From Inappropriate Peeing

  • Check with your vet for any medical conditions. If your cat has a health problem, your vet will recommend the best treatment.
  • Spend more time with your cat. Playing with your cat more can relieve their stress and anxiety.
  • If your cat likes to cuddle, make sure you spend some time cuddling with them. This will help your cat feel comfortable.
  • Make sure your home is a happy place for your cat. Give your cat more room to explore. Provide toys for your cat.
  • Always consult your vet for the best methods of reducing stress and anxiety in your cat.
  • Clean any places where your cat has peed inappropriately with an enzymatic cleaner. Your cat will stop marking in those places.
  • Place treats close to where your cats pee inappropriately. If your cat is peeing on the bed, place treats there. Cats hate peeing near places where they eat. If you change the places where your cat pees to where they eat, they will stop peeing there.
  • If your cat is peeing outside the litter box, make sure you clean the box regularly. Also, provide more litter boxes for your cat.

Cats may pee due to a health or behavioral problem. In order to solve the problem, you need to understand why they are peeing in other areas. Talk with your vet so that your cat gets the right treatment. For behavioral problems, spend more time with your cat so that they can get rid of stress and anxiety.

Why Does My Cat Pee On Clothes

Its not uncommon for cats to pee in laundry baskets or on a pile of clothes, especially male cats. And this is even more so apparent when they are surrounded by other cats. We call this behaviour spraying.

When male cats mature sexually, they will want to establish authority. They do that by around them with urine. Ultimately, its their way of telling whos the boss in your home. It might happen with or without other cats being present, but its more likely if there are other cats.

However, you should always check for medical problems first. While spraying is a relatively common occurrence for male cats, female cats might have other reasons for it. It might be due to stress or anxiety, especially for younger cats.

Theres always a possibility that your four-legged friend is suffering from a disease or condition that causes them to pee outside the litter box. You should definitely let your vet check your cat first before you assume its just due to marking territories or other behavioural issues.
