Characteristics Of The Breed

Head: in the shape of a softened triangle, the head is broad with rounded contours. From the front, the cheekbones are neither prominent nor prominent. Broad, the skull is relatively flat. As seen in the profile, it is slightly rounded and is extended by a slight slope at eye level. The nose is moderately short and flat.

Muzzle: round and robust, the muzzle must be without the pinch. Females often have a thinner snout than males. The chin is rounded without being clogged. The whiskers are long and thick.

Eyes: large, almost round, the eyes are well spaced from each other, separated at least by the width of one vision. They are implanted slightly obliquely, without having an oriental expression. All eye colors are allowed without any relation to the coat, except for color points with blue eyes.

Ears: medium in size, the ears are wide at the base and separated by a distance equivalent to one and a half ear width. As seen in the profile, they are slightly pointed forwards. The inside of the ears is also lined with great hair. Lynx tips are appreciated.

Neckline: round and short, the neckline is powerfully muscled.

Body: of semi-cobby format, the body, massive, heavy, and muscular, has a characteristic so-called “barrel” shape due to the roundness of its ribs and its musculature. The croup is rounded and higher than the shoulders. The abdominal strap is very powerful.

Legs: of medium height, the legs are robust and muscular with firm boning.

Some breeders and catteries are registered or certified with either the CFA or TICA .

Both of these organizations are registries for pedigree cats, and they also promote good ethical business practices.

It doesnt mean a breeder cant be trusted if theyre not registered with either of these organizations, but its certainly added peace of mind.

The Appearance Of These Hardcore Cats

This may be hardcore looking cats, but really they are big softies! Siberian cats are a solid and sturdy medium to large size breed, but with long-haired fluffy coats, round paws, and very, very sweet faces!

Their eyes tend to be large and round, and are usually green, gold, green-gold, or copper in color. White Siberian cats or cats with a predominantly white coat may also have blue eyes, or two different colored eyes one green and one blue.

Siberians have water repellent triple coats needed to keep them warm in the cold climate they are from. This means they have an outer layer of longer guard hair, a middle layer of awn hair, and an undercoat layer of down. They have a longer ruff of fur around their neck, fluffy hind legs, and a very bushy tail.

They are naturally strong and have a muscular build, but it can take up to five years to mature from a kitten into a full, balanced, and well-proportioned adult size cat.
