Potential Runs For Office
Referring to Michigan governor Jennifer Granholm , during performances he would frequently interject “Jennifer Granholm, kiss my ass” into his songs and shoot an arrow at her likeness. In a 2007 interview, in discussing running for governor of Michigan, he stated that Granholm “is not doing an ugly job, but as the perfect woman, she is scrotumless”.
Although Nugent has never run for government office, in the 2000s, he publicly speculated about doing so on several occasions. In May 2005, he announced he was “getting real close to deciding to run” for governor of Michigan in 2006 while in 2007, he talked about running for that office in 2010. During the latter period, he stated, “Michigan was once a great state. Michigan was a state that rewarded the entrepreneur and the most productive, work-ethic families of the state. Now the pimps and the whores and the welfare brats are basically the state’s babies.” Earlier, Nugent had been rumored to be under consideration by the Illinois Republican Party as its candidate in that state’s 2004 Senate race, given his roots in Illinois.
In a July 2013 interview with The Washington Post, Nugent expressed interest in possibly running for President of the United States as a Republican in the 2016 election. He never sought the office.

Ted Nugent has claimed that covers of his popular hit Cat Scratch Fever lack groove, noting that no ones ever played it correctly.
Nugent always gets people talking from feuding with Joan Jett, to comparing US President Joe Biden to Adolf Hitler and now he may well have rock fans surprised once again by his recent comments regarding covers of his most popular song.
Since 1975, Nugent has released 16 studio albums. And of course, some of his hits have been re-created by many popular bands in the rock scene. In an interview with HMP on YouTube, Nugent discussed covers of Cat Scratch Fever from Mötorhead and Pantera.
He said, Im an honest guy. Number one, love Lemmy, love Mötorhead. And Im humbled and honoured that they would pick one of my songs thats a great connection that we have. But thats not how I hear it.
He laughed before continuing, The Cat Scratch Fever lick no ones ever played it correctly They played it real Caucasian, and if thats what they like, God bless em. And the people that liked it, I love all of you. But when I hear Cat Scratch Fever, I hear more of a Motown grunt. And like when the Ramones played Journey To The Center Of The Mind, my Amboy Dukes hit song, its just too Caucasian.

Review:These days it seems like the Motor City Motormouth spends more time planting foot firmly in face what with his recent jabs at everyone from Joan Jett to well pretty much anyone who doesnt agree with his mow em all down and dont apologize later political views. However, no one can deny Teds place in wild and loud rock and roll. Despite reportedly rocking sans the extra punch of alcohol and/or drugs, Nugent has spent the better part of his career tearing across the world like some crazed Chuck Berry attached to a truckload of truck batteries. Sure, he may have traded in his loin cloth and raccoon tail for coverall camo along the way but the rock and roll mission is still the same – Ted likes to lay in wait until he can leap out and corral the audience and never was he better at it than in the seventies as he set out to catch Cat Scratch Fever across the world in order to run around and pass it on and on and on.

In a new interview with HMP, legendary rocker Ted Nugent was asked what he thought of MOTÖRHEAD‘s cover version of his classic song “Cat Scratch Fever”. He responded : “I’m an honest guy. Number one, love Lemmy, love MOTÖRHEAD. And I’m humbled and honored that they would pick one of my songs that’s a great connection that we have. But that’s not how I hear it. The ‘Cat Scratch Fever’ lick no one’s ever played it correctly They played it real Caucasian, and if that’s what they like, God bless ’em. And the people that liked it, I love all of you. But when I hear ‘Cat Scratch Fever’, I hear more of a Motown grunt. And like when the RAMONES played ‘Journey To The Center Of The Mind’, my AMBOY DUKES hit song, it’s just too Caucasian And I think PANTERA did ‘Cat Scratch Fever’ too. And again, I love them. Thank you for playing it. Thank you for honoring me by choosing one of my songs. But it doesn’t have the groove that I like, it doesn’t have the pulse and the Motown soulfulness that I created in the song. Back in 2006, Nugent slammed PANTERA‘s cover of his signature tune “Cat Scratch Fever” as having “no soul, no balls” and “no feel,” adding that the members of PANTERA appeared as “Ozzy-like zombies on TV” whose conduct on stage went against his lifelong anti-drugs and -drink stance.
S Solo Career And Damn Yankees
During the period of 19821988, Nugent released four more solo albums and also began assuming a more prominent role as lead vocalist. In 1989, he joined the supergroupDamn Yankees, with Jack Blades , Tommy Shaw ” rel=”nofollow”> Styx) and Michael Cartellone . Damn Yankees was a hit album, going double platinum in the U.S., thanks to the hit power ballad “High Enough“. The second and final Damn Yankees album, Don’t Tread , reached gold status in the U.S., but was not as well-received as the band’s debut and the group dissolved soon after.

Return To Solo Career

Returning to a solo career, Nugent released Spirit of the Wild in 1995, his best-reviewed album in quite some time. The album contained the bowhunting anthem “Fred Bear”, and also marked the return of Derek St. Holmes to Nugent’s studio band. A series of archival releases also came out in the 1990s, keeping Nugent’s name in the national consciousness. He also began hosting a radio show in Detroit on WWBR-FM and took ownership in several hunting-related businesses. He created TV shows for several networks Wanted: Ted or Alive on Versus, Ted Nugent Spirit of the Wild on PBS and The Outdoor Channel, as well as Surviving Nugent and Supergroup-Damnocracy on VH1. In 2006, Ted Nugent was voted into the Michigan Rock and Roll Legends Hall of Fame.
Ted Nugent appears on David Crowder Band‘s 2007 release, Remedy, playing guitar on the song “We Won’t Be Quiet”. He announced his “Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead” tour on April 21, 2010.
Nugent toured with local Detroit musician Alex Winston during the summers of 2007 and 2008.
On July 4, 2008, at the DTE Energy Music Theater in Clarkston, Michigan, Ted Nugent played his 6,000th concert.Derek St. Holmes , Johnny Bee Badanjek and Nugent’s guitar teacher from 1958, Joe Podorsek, all jammed on stage with Nugent for various songs.
Cat Scratch Fever Review
Despite becoming one of the rock’s biggest concert attractions, Ted Nugent needed that one album and single that would break through in a big way, and the 1977 album and single of the same name, Cat Scratch Fever, did the trick. Cat Scratch Fever matched the focused ferocity of Nugent’s excellent 1975 debut , featuring another first-rate set of brash hard rockers. While the title track is a certified classic anthem , other tracks are just as delightful, such as the oh-so-subtle “Wang Dang Sweet Poontang.” Further standouts include such underrated compositions as “Live It Up,” “Workin’ Hard, Playin’ Hard,” and “Out of Control,” plus the exquisitely melodic instrumental “Home Bound,” which the Beastie Boys would sample on their 1992 mega-hit album Check Your Head . A Top 20 release, Cat Scratch Fever was the last Nugent release to feature his original solo band . And while he enjoyed further chart success with such titles as Weekend Warriors and Double Live Gonzo, many consider Cat Scratch Fever to be Nugent’s finest hour.

Drug And Alcohol Stances
Since the 1970s, Nugent has promoted anti-drug and anti-alcohol stances. He has been cited as a key influence in the straight edge movement, a punk rock-associated lifestyle that developed in the early 1980s and discourages drug and alcohol use. Henry Rollins, former vocalist for Black Flag, said that he and friend Ian MacKaye ” rel=”nofollow”> Straight Edge” that gave the movement its name) were inspired by Nugent during their high school years in the 1970s when he was the only major rock star to publicly eschew drug use: ” would read about the Nuge and the thing that really rubbed off on us was the fact that he didn’t drink or smoke or do drugs … was the craziest thing we’d ever seen onstage and here’s this guy saying, ‘I don’t get high.’ We thought that was so impressive.”
Nugent is a national spokesman for the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program, In 2015, however, he declared his support for the legalization of marijuana for medical use. In 2018, he admitted that he drinks “a little wine”.
