Why Should You Adopt From Rescue Ridge

We’ve been helping cats and dogs find forever homes since 2002. We always have a selection of pitties on hand, and we have a few fosters that have been with us for many years. One of our dogs is blind and has been with us for over four years. We rehabilitate many cats and dogs, and we handle hospice dogs and cats. It’s important to make sure that animals are comfortable right up to the rainbow bridge. We also host adoption events every weekend, so make sure to check one out.

Who Are Purrfect Angels

We are an all-volunteer, no-kill cat rescue based in Gloucester County, New Jersey dedicated to improving the lives of homeless cats in southern New Jersey. Since 2013 we have been doing this through:

  • Providing veterinary care, including spaying/neutering, vaccinations, and testing for FIV/FeLV.

  • Finding loving homes for homeless cats.

  • Hosting fundraising activities to raise money for our care efforts.

We maintain the Adoption Center located in the PetSmart in Turnersville, NJ as well as provide a network of private foster homes who take in cats in need. We pull cats from the local shelter to give them a chance to have a loving home. We spay/neuter, test for FIV/FeLV, microchip and vaccinate all our cats before they are ready to go to their “forever” homes. You can see the cats we have for adoption either online or in person at PetSmart. You can apply to adopt them either online or in person.

Meet The Adorable 11 Cats And Dogs Who Are Longtimers In Njs Animal Shelters

Liam loves treats, walks and playtime. Austin is good with kids. And Sweet Momma is a cuddly purr machine. But, sadly, all of these furbabies are known as longtimers in New Jerseys animal shelters, unable to find their forever homes.

Of the 53,892 dogs and cats that entered New Jersey shelters in 2020, 35,976 found placement or were redeemed by their owners, according to the latest data provided by the New Jersey Department of Health. Thats a total state save rate of 67%, slightly higher than last years 66%. But what happened to those that didnt find a home?

In New Jersey, impounded animals only need to be held for seven days at a licensed facility prior to adoption or euthanasia. In 2020, the state euthanized 8% of all cats and dogs impounded. This represents a decrease from 2019, when 11% were euthanized, but it still means 4,106 dogs and cats were put down. The thousands of animals currently in New Jersey shelters are hoping to avoid a similar fate. For these animals, and the shelter staff and volunteers who take care of them, the New Year brings with it renewed hope of finding a forever family.

Shelters can be loud and distressing places, and the dog is affected by that. Its not the best place to keep them safe and comfortable its not a long-term solution like a forever home, said Santini, who has been involved in animal control for 30 years.

Why Should You Adopt

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you’ll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.

Why Tabbys Place Cat Sanctuary Cares For The Most Vulnerable Kitties Who Have Nowhere Else To Turn

Courtesy of Angela Townsend Hartley/Tabbys Place: A Cat Sanctuary

Animal rescue efforts are often told in a series of short stories. Like Rawlings, a jowly gentleman struggling with feline immunodeficiency virus who first arrived at Tabbys Place after living in a feral colony. Or Alfie, a snuggly kitten with a cleft palate who needed nebulizer treatments. Or pint-sized Houston, suffering from a neurological condition , who was rescued from a hoarding situation. None were turned away.

Ever since our founding, Tabbys Place has been devoted to the most vulnerable catsthose who truly have nowhere else to turn. Were a haven for the least, the last, and the lost, Angela Townsend Hartley, the facilitys developmental director, tells Daily Paws. But the truth is, its the cats who encourage, and in many ways care for, us every day!

A cage-free rescue center in Ringoes, N.J., Tabbys Place specializes in caring for older cats and those with special needs and behavioral issues. Approximately 3040 percent of its residents have chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and paraplegia. It averages 15 adoptions each month, and some kitties are also fortunate to go to long-term foster homes.

However, there are roughly 100 feline residents in the sanctuary at any given time, like darling Olive below. Born paraplegic, she was only a kitten when discovered in a parking lot, alone and abandoned.
