Although we are chiefly a foster-based rescue , we are proud to be able to offer adopters the opportunity to meet cats at the following walk-up adoption centers . Click HERE to view our cat adoption centers and hours.
If you are interested in meeting or adopting a particular pet listed below, please review our adoption process and policies, then fill out a non-obligatory adoption application by clicking here. Applicants approved by the foster home will be contacted to arrange a meet and greet. Contact emails are also listed in each animals biography for specific questions regarding an adoptable pet, please feel free to reach out to the contact listed. Fosters are volunteers and will respond as soon as they are able.
Cats two years of age or older and/or those with special needs qualify for the Pets for Patriots discount for approved veterans. Full information about their program can be found here.

Its The 2022 Annual Kitten Rescue Yard Sale For Charity
Its time for the 2022 Kitten Rescue Annual Yard Sale for charity! Well be holding our annual yard sale in Woodland Hills on Saturday, May 14th and Sunday, May 15th. Everyone is welcome to donate items to the yard sale, and all proceeds raised from the two-day sale go towards helping Kitten Rescue. Its a win-win you clean out your closets and garage, and together we all raise money for homeless cats and kittens!
We do still need volunteers to set up on Friday, May 13th, to help with sales and merchandising on the 14th and 15th, and to clean up after the event on Sunday the 15th. Email to sign up.

Which One To Choose: Male Or Female Long Hair Or Short
Here again, people have preconceived notions. Cats which have not been sterilized are more aggressive and often wont tolerate other cats, but two females or two males which have been sterilized can get along very well together. It depends on their personality. To be sure, dominant cats, either male or female, are less tolerant of other cats but they may adapt very well to a cat that is quieter and more docile. Its truly a question of personality and not sex. Cats, like humans get along well with some people and not so well with others. Some people claim males are more affectionate and others say the opposite. Again, its more a question of personality than sex.If you want a cat, you have to understand that whether it has long or short hair, it is going to shed. The loss of hair depends on the season, the cats diet, its emotional state as well as genetics. If you opt for a long-haired cat, you will have to brush it regularly.But at the end of the day, what is most important is a good tug on the heartstrings. You need to click with the cat that you are going to take home and we often hear on adoption days I think I have just fallen in love.

Why Is Poch Being Rehomed
We are devastated to rehome our Poch. This is not something either of us ever expected to do and it truly breaks our heart. But we know Poch would be happier in a home without children, not in a home with an 18 month old and a soon to be newborn in October. She is just terrified of our daughter and becomes highly anxious, causing her to be in a constant state of stress, which is no life for her. She was always a perfectly clean cat with impeccable litterbox habits, but since we had out daughter, who is now 18 months, Poch has had accidents outside the litter box. A cat behaviorist has told us that she needs a home where there are no small children or other pets, and that the accidents are directly a result of her being terrified of our daughter.

When you are ready to adopt a Refuge cat, its best to leave preconceived ideas aside and come with an open mind and an open heart. Adopting a cat means opening your home to a living creature with its own needs, emotions and fears. It means sharing the road together. The best adoptions are when people feel touched by one of the Refuge cats and fall in love, often with a cat that isnt anything like the one they had in mind. And its these people who write or call us afterwards to say thanks and let us know how the cat they adopted is marvelous and gives them so much joy. These are cats that chose their people and not the opposite. Cats can be quite sensitive to your emotions. As well, we know our cats very well since they all live in foster homes.

We are looking for a person or a couple who do not have other animals or children and do not plan on having young children or other animals while they have Poch in their lives. Were looking for someon who love cats and appreciate them for what they are. Someone who loves night time cuddles and playing with her and someone with patience who can let her get comfortable before giving up on her love.

Ready to find your new best friend? Choose two pets who youd like to meet, then schedule a visit to their location either at our South Mountain Campus or PetSmart in Old Town Scottsdale. We do accept walk-ins when availability allows but appointments are given priority. Adoptions are first-come, first-served. Although we cannot put pets on hold, rest assured we have new pets becoming available every day!
