Turkish Angoras are gorgeous cats that have both a wonderful temperament and a mind of their own. Theyre incredibly intelligent, are easy to train, think theyre the boss, and like to resolve their own problems. Theyre confident and secure in themselves and know what they wantand once they do, itll be a challenge to change their minds.
This beautiful breed is playful and wildly loyal. Theyll sit near you for hours on end and may even strike up a conversation, as theyre very vocal! Theyre not scared to show affection through cuddling and will bond with their human. However, theyre not typically lap cats and dont enjoy being held for long periods.
These cats love to explore, swim, and climb. If youve got a cat tree, theyll be at the top of it in no time, on the lookout and enjoying their vantage point. Due to this independent quality, you will need to watch them when playing outside as they may wander off or find themselves stuck at the top of a tree.

Icezzy has an amazing pedigree. His grandmother, Nazli, is a direct import from Turkey. I am very humbled and thankful to have Icezzy in my program. He has many amazing qualities, the best is his gentle temperament. He has yet to meet another cat that he has not liked. He is very accepting of others and wants to be everyones friend. I love his gentle eye expression and eye shape. He has a very nice gently straight profile, long muscular body structure, triangular ear shape, amazing coat length and full plumed tail. Icezzy loves to play fetch and is almost at the stage of dropping the toy in my hand if not my feet. He is a cat-dog! Icezzy is probably the best boycat on the planet. He lives happily in the upstairs bedrooms, having freedom to sleep in any bed he chooses. He is a beloved family pet. Izzy has produced beautiful kittens with exceptional temperaments. Caring For Turkish Angora Kittens
The Turkish Angora has a single coat with a silky texture. Because theres no undercoat to cause mats or tangles, its easy to groom with weekly combing or brushing, and it sheds very little. The coat doesnt achieve its full length until the cat is approximately two years old.
Brush the teeth to prevent periodontal disease. Daily dental hygiene is best, but weekly brushing is better than nothing. Trim the nails every couple of weeks. Wipe the corners of the eyes with a soft, damp cloth to remove any discharge. Use a separate area of the cloth for each eye so you dont run the risk of spreading any infection.
Check the ears weekly. If they look dirty, wipe them out with a cotton ball or soft damp cloth moistened with a 50-50 mixture of cider vinegar and warm water. Avoid using cotton swabs, which can damage the interior of the ear.
Keep the Angoras litter box spotlessly clean.Catsare very particular about bathroom hygiene, and a clean litter box will also help to keep the long coat clean.
Its a good idea to keep a Turkish Angora as an indoor-only cat to protect him from diseases spread by other cats, attacks by dogs or coyotes, and the other dangers that face cats who go outdoors, such as being hit by a car. Turkish Angoras who go outdoors also run the risk of being stolen by someone who would like to have such a beautiful cat without paying for it.

If you are in love with long, silky coats and captivating eyes, then the Turkish Angora will get your heart pounding. This dainty breed knows what it wants and will demand your attention. Although they may think theyre in charge of your house, occupants, and other pets, theyll get on marvelously with any person or animal they meet.
This interesting breed that often boasts a white coat and odd-colored eyes hail from Turkey. It is said to be Allahs favorite type of cat, giving it much importance and value by Turkish people.
Once this breed was introduced in other countries, it was used to breed with the Persian cat.
Unfortunately, through this process, the Angora almost reached extinction, and the Turkey government had to step in to protect the breed. Since then, the unique white Angora from Turkey, with different colored eyes, is now just about impossible to get your hands on. However, a few people have been successful.
White Angoras are now kept and maintained in a zoo in Ankara, Turkey, in an attempt to preserve them. However, youll see many other colored Angora roaming around the country freely.

Your Angora is an obligate carnivore, which means they require protein in their diet. If they dont receive enough protein, theyll have fragile bones amongst many other health issues. They also need fats and all the essential nutrients found in animal protein. As long as your cat receives the proteins and fats they need in their cat food, you can give them high-quality dry kibble and add wet food on top.
