Keep A Cordless Vacuum By The Litter Box
Cordless vacuums are a great option for quickly cleaning up around your litter boxes. If you keep one stored near the litter box, you can quickly take it out and vacuum the area any time you notice a mess, without having to worry about finding an outlet or wrapping up your vacuum cords afterward.
Most of all, remember to stay patient. By spending the time to figure out the cause of your cats litter box aversion, you can help to prevent it from happening again in the future. We know litter aversion is a daunting problem for cat owners, and we know how picky cats can be about their litter. Thats why Worlds Best Cat Litter created formulas that make it easier for you to ensure your cat goes in the box, every time.
How Do You Keep Cat Litter From Sticking
There are plenty of prevention tips for keeping cat litter from sticking to your cat’s paws. Proper prevention can save you the time and stress of removing litter from your furry friend.
First, be mindful of what type of litter you are using. Non-clumping, low dust litter is less likely to get stuck in your cat’s paws.
Is clumping litter a better option for you and your cat? Don’t worry. If you want to stick to clumping litter, look for quick clumping. These litters dry more quickly, reducing the chance of litter sticking to your cat’s paws.
Next, you can lay a mat outside your cat’s litter box. This will help catch litter from your cat’s paws as they go in and out of the box.
Last, ensure your litter box is large enough. The container should be large enough for your cat to turn around comfortably. This allows the room they need to not stand on their waste.
Within your litter box, you want to check that you have an adequate amount of litter and keep up with regular cleanings.
Help Getting Cat Litter Off Kittens Paws
Hi all,As I’m sure most of you know that we are keeping Hermes well we are trying it out to see how the other cats react with him and then we’ll decide. But besides that, last night when I got home, water leaked from my air conditioner into my kitten’s litter box. So the kitten got in the box and of course did his business like a good little boy and got wet scoopable kitty litter stuck in between his paws. We tried dipping his paws in water several times and tryed to pull it off but I didn’t want to hurt him so I’m not sure how to get this off of him.Any suggestions???
I would try to wash it off if the baby would go along with that idea. You need to get it off before he swollows any of it and binds himself up.

I have used a cotten ball soaked in hydrogen peroxide and held it on the claws for several moments, it then came off. Try switching back to regular and not the clumping. The clumping really get stuck and is harder to get off! Good luck!!
Nine is Fine!!
Yikes! I have no idea how to help. It sounds like a truly messy situation. I would thnk it might have to be shaved off if its that clumped. Now you know why you never ever use clumping litter when kittens are around.

Make Full Use Of Mats
Ah, mats theyre basically your best friend when it comes to cat litter! See, theres plenty on the market, designed specifically to catch the litter stuck to your cats paws when he / she exits their litter box.
You can choose from rubber mats with grooves to mesh mats, right the way to soft matsthat are more like rugs than anything! CatGurus Cat Litter Mat is my favourite when it comes to soft mats. And the great thing is these are machine washable too. But anything is better than nothing!
Just place the mat somewhere where you know your cat will have to walk to go to and from the litter tray. The longer the run the better, as it then gives more time for the cat litter to dislodge from their paws.

Litter tracking is caused by bits of litter sticking to your cats paws and fur after she has used the litter box. Many cats also like to dig to China in their boxes, kicking and throwing litter all over the floor. Then they walk through the mess and bring it to every corner of your home.

What Is Flushable Cat Litter
What makes a cat litter flushable is its capacity to dissolve in water. The more completely and quickly it can dissolve, the better its flushability and the less likely it is to clog your plumbing. Flushable cat litter is almost always made of clumping natural materials that absorb moisture and break down once saturated . Note: not all natural litter is flushable! Make sure the litter brand itself claims to be flushable before flushing it.
How to Use Flushable Cat Litter
Even with all flushable cat litters promises, its important to exercise caution when flushing it. Only flush one clump at a time and divide large clumps into smaller pieces. Let the clumps sit in the toilet for at least five minutes and then flush when the clump has noticeably dissolved. Do not flush clumps of litter if they still look solid.
When first trying flushable cat litter in your household, test it by dissolving a small amount of litter in a cup of water. Once the litter has dissolved, flush it down your toilet and observe. If your toilet easily flushes the litter away, youre good to go! If the litter is not completely flushed away, you should dispose of used litter in the trash instead.
Note: Do NOT flush cat litter if you use a septic tank system.
Do Not Flush Clay or Silica Litter
Tip: Every litter on our top 5 tofu litters list is flushable. Tofu litter is usually flushable, except when it is mixed with a non-flushable material like clay.

Get A Litter Box With Higher Walls
One of the more simple but effective solutions to cut down on litter tracking is to get a litter box with higher walls so less litter gets kicked out of the box and spreading around your home. If you have an older cat, they may not be able to climb over high sides, so make sure to get a box with an entry point for easier access.

No one seems to address the litter stuck in paws. My boy is going to scratch so why isnt there some scratcher to hang over the side of the litter box. Scratching smooth plastic for 20 mins is not good for either of us.
Who can afford to change litter entirely every day? When your cat needs an entire tub to fill the litter box, thats several hundred dollars a week.
Im in this same boat. My cat, who Ive had for a year now, just decided he wants to scratch the sides of the litter box. There is no litter stuck in his paws, the box is cleaned three times a day, and the litter has been the same one used since he was only a few weeks old. Now, every time he uses the litter box, he decides to scratch excessively. He even scratches when the rest of his body is out of the box. Why? It is getting to the point where my landlord is about to get involved because my neighbors are being woken up.
Hi! I am in great same boat since I adopted my second kitten a year ago. Did you find something that worked for you? I am at my wits end. excessively scratching the plastic at 4am every single morning. He has always done this also and every time I get up and say Remi!! and runs off 100mph bc he knows better. My older cat can go perfectly fine.
I was told to add some soil from the garden to the cat box it seems to be working as well as probably not enough litter

Treating Dry Cat Paw Pads
If your kittys paw pads become dry, irritated or cracked, contact your vet they recommend that you try moisturizing them with olive, coconut or another food-quality oil that will be safe for them to lick. You may want to confine them to a bathroom while the oil absorbs to keep her from tracking it through the house. If they need something more heavy-duty, ask your vet to recommend a good paw moisturizer for cats. Avoidotions made for humans, which may be harmful if ingested.
When Should You Switch Litters
If your cat is using the litter box, and the litter youre using right now is reasonably priced, clumps well, and doesnt smell terrible with regular scooping, keep using what youre using. Even our favorite litters can only do so much.
Its common for about 2 percent to 4 percent of cats to reject any given litter, according to Ray Brown, of Arm & Hammers parent company, Church & Dwightbut if your litter leaves room for improvement, chances are good that your cat will go along with the change. Ease the transition by mixing in some of the new litter with the old for a week or two, or follow the transition instructions on the box, if they differ.

Also Great: Arm & Hammer Cloud Control Clumping Litter
*At the time of publishing, the price was $15.
We like the Arm & Hammer Cloud Control Clumping Litter because it does a good job of trapping odors, and it has tiny litter granules that clump better than those of most cat litter brands we tested. Also, the Cloud Control litter doesnt gunk up the bottom of a pan, and it produces virtually no dust. But those tiny granules may track throughout the home, and the Cloud Control litters traditional cardboard-box container can be a hassle to carry and open.
Even though Dr. Elseys Ultra had the best odor control, the Cloud Control litter did the best job of making tighter, defined litter clumps that were the easiest to scoop and clean during our tests.
In our tests, the Cloud Control cat litter trapped stinky ammonia and sulfur-like hing odors better than the competition, and only a faint stench remained when we were sitting next to the dirty litter only Dr. Elseys Ultra beat it in this area by completely trapping the odors. The Cloud Control cat litter quickly negates odors if your cat regularly buries their waste, but itll take a few minutes for the smells to dissipate if your cat is rude and never covers things up.
The Cloud Control litters smaller granules are easier to scoop and clean, but those tiny specks are also more likely to stick to your cats paws and track throughout the house. Invest in a good cat litter mat, like the Easyology Premium Cat Litter Mat, which traps fine granules better than any mat weve seen.
