How Do I Determine Which Cat Is Eliminating When I Have More Than One Cat

VET Reveals How to Stop Your Cat Peeing Outside the Litter ...

When there are multiple cats in the home, it may be difficult to determine who is actually soiling. Confinement of one or more cats may be necessary to discover who is not using the litter box. However, if social conflicts between cats contribute to the problem, separating cats may make the problem diminish or stop.

Therefore, the best solution may be to place a video camera in the area where the soiling occurs.

A fluorescent dye can be administered to one cat, and the soiled areas can then be evaluated with a black light to determine if that is the cat that is house soiling. However, results are not always consistent and the dye may stain some carpets. Therefore, the best solution may be to place a video camera in the area where the soiling occurs. For stool elimination a small amount of a nontoxic colored crayon can be chopped and mixed into the food of one of the cats.

Vinegar Cat Pee Cleaner And Repellant

This is the best method I have found to remove cat urine. It’s also very cheap. Vinegar, baking soda, and hydrogen peroxide: You can buy all these for less than five dollars.

  • In an ordinary squirt bottle, mix three parts water to one part vinegar.
  • Spray the affected area and let sit for a few minutes. This works better on hardwood or tile floors, but you can use it on carpet as well.
  • Soak up the vinegar solution with paper towels.
  • Allow the floor to become completely dry. If you are in a hurry, turn a small fan on the area, and it should be dry in a couple of minutes.
  • Once the floor is dry, sprinkle baking soda over the affected area.
  • Take hydrogen peroxide and some dish soap and pour it over the baking soda.
  • Use a scrub brush to scour the floor. This will kill all the bacteria that was left behind.
  • After you have scrubbed the area thoroughly, soak up the excess with paper towels and allow to dry.
  • Cleaning Cat Pee From Furniture And Carpets

    First, using a paper towel or toilet paper, we have to soak up as much of the liquid before it completely sets. Then, we can go over it with an enzyme-based cleaner like Natures Miracle to get the smell and stains out.;

Once we apply the cleaner, we should leave it for about 10 to 15 minutes to set. While its on, it will break down the uric acid. Even though the smell might appear worse at first, its all part of the process.

Theres Infighting With Another Cat In The Home

This kind of falls under the marking territory category of cat pee. If you have more than one cat, the more dominant one may be preventing the other cats from using the same litter box. Basically, the dominant cat is saying, This is my toilet. Go find your own! The less dominant kitty has to find another place to pee, which is usually on something you love or in one of your plants.

What you can do about it: As much as you dont want to be the cat owner with multiple litter boxes, the best way to tackle this is to buy another litter box. Youre doing your less dominant cat a huge favor though, because they will be able to use their own box without stress.

First, I would let them play in a communal supervised area for thirty minutes to an hour every day. Luckily, there are plenty of toys that both cats and babies enjoy. Whats more, I let my cat mark his territory and sniff and rub his scent into the babys clothes. Doing so gave amazing results and the cat hasnt tried to pee on the babys stuff once.
