About Sister Kitten Animal Rescue
Sister Kitten Animal Rescue was founded in 2019. We work to improve animal lives and the publics perceptions of animals, with a focus on supporting community cats and outdoor dogs in Western North Carolina.
We rescue and rehome abandoned and neglected animals, provide trap-neuter-return as well as support, education and assistance to community cat caregivers.
We maintain animals in foster care for adoption, provide veterinary care for sick animals, and promote community animal welfare.
We respond to weather-related emergencies in the Southeast by assisting with animal rescue and relief efforts.
Were committed to proactive, respectful neighbor relations and positive collaboration with other local animal rescue and animal control agencies.

Things To Bring To Adopt A Cat Or Kitten From Animal Care & Control:
-Your valid drivers license or state- or government-issued ID. If your ID does not have your correct address, bring something else such as a paycheck, car registration, utility bill, etc. that shows your correct address.
-A cat carrier for each animal you plan to adopt. If you end up taking more than one cat home because you couldnt decide between two and you only have one carrier, dont worry. Animal Care & Control sells temporary cat boxes for $4 each if you need one.
-If you already have animals at home, bring their current rabies certificate.
Right now, all adoptable kittens and adult cats are FREE to adopt in favor of a donation to Animal Care & Controls kitten nursery.

We believe that every life is special. Our rescue takes in cats and kittens that are homeless or in high kill shelters within North Carolina. Every cat is placed in foster care where we spend time evaluating their personality and temperament so that we can place each one into the best forever home possible based on their individual needs and the needs of their new family. Cats and kittens needing medical care are promptly treated and every animal in our rescue is spayed or neutered in order to break the cycle of overpopulation.

Charlotte Animal Shelter Is In Crisis
A number of factors contribute to the shelters current predicament
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Now would be a good time to adopt or foster a dog or cat if youve been considering doing so.
Whats happening: CMPDs Animal Care & Control is full and is experiencing a capacity for care crisis, according to communications manager Melissa Knicely.
She put out a memo pleading for the communitys help.
- We are at full capacity, we need adoptions, we need fosters, Knicely wrote.
A number of factors contribute to the shelters current predicament, including Charlottes rapid growth.
- Inevitability this also means the number of stray or lost pets coming into the shelter will likely increase along with the population growth, per the AC& C.
- We have few available kennels open and like everyone else, we are also dealing with staffing shortages, shelter veterinarian Dr. Julie Hollifield said in a presentation.
Of note: The shelter is not currently accepting any cats or kittens unless they are sick or injured. Thats because of an outbreak of feline panleukopenia which an overcrowding of felines has contributed to.
Details: You dont need an appointment to adopt an animal. Just show up at the shelter .
- Its open seven days a week: 11am-7pm Monday-Friday and 11am-5pm Saturday and Sunday.
Because of an ongoing promotion with Bissell Pet Foundation, adoption fees are waived now through the end of July when you make a financial donation to support shelter programs, per Knicely.

Purr Partners cats and kittens are in the PetSmart Adoption Centers Wednesday through Sunday in the inside units. During the Adoptathon on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-3pm, we have more cats and kittens on the retail floor and our volunteers will be available to answer any questions and also do meet-and-greets and complete adoptions for preapproved adopters.

We are one of the few rescues in the area with trained bottle baby volunteers on standby. During kitten season, we primarily focus on orphaned singleton kittens from rural shelters and area within North and upstate South Carolina including Chesterfield, Lancaster, Cabarrus, and Union county. We also pull adult cats during kitten season as space allows. In the winter, we try to save as many adults as possible.

AMH has formed a partnership with the Humane Society of Charlotte, and as a result, we are able to provide a loving, caring environment for adoptable kittens until they are able to go to their furr-ever home.
We have two available for adoption, Hiro and Hitch, who are from the same litter. They each have unique and loveable personalities. Hiro is easy going, and would be wonderful in a home with children. Hitch is an explorer and is equally as cute.
The number of kittens AMH has available varies dependent upon how many the Humane Society of Charlotte has available for adoption. We are constantly receiving new kittens, so please be sure to check out our available adoptions by stopping by or giving us a call!
If you are interested in applying for adoption, come by the front desk and ask one of our Client Service Associates for an application. Once submitted, your application will be processed within 48 hours, and then you will be notified whether or not if you are approved for adoption. Interested applicants are encouraged to stop by for a visit with our kittens during our regular business hours that way we can ensure that one of our adorable felines is the purr-fect match for your family.
