They are as intelligent as they are beautiful. They have very tall, long and muscular bodies. Some can grow as heavy as 22lbs, but not all Savannahs reach that weight and can range from 8lbs to 19lbs. Females are generally smaller then males.
This breed’s size has very little to do with their outstanding wild personalities, playful temperaments, and loving nature. They are very interactive cats and are often referred as almost dog-like in personality. They are a very loyal feline and bond easily with their families. Yes, nearly 95%! Genetically, color is transmitted through the X chromosome. Females receive an X from both parents, so calicos can contain both black and orange fur colors alongside white. Males, however, receive an X from the mother and a Y from the father, meaning they can only display orange or black, but not both.

1. The average lifespan of a calico cat is between 12 and 15 years.
2. While indoor cats live quite a long life, outdoor calicos have a lower lifespan of between seven and nine years.

They were first documented in Italy around the middle of the 16th century.
