What Episode Does Cat Noir Reveal Himself To Ladybug

Some Of The Humor In Miraculous Doesn’t Translate

MIRACULOUS | ð? LADRIEN ð? | SEASON 2 | Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir

Although Miraculous is a show that’s very much intended for an international audience, some of the jokes still end up being extremely French. And in these cases, younger audience members from the English-speaking world might not understand exactly what they mean.

The most common place that this pops up is with characters whose names are puns in the French languages. For instance, Alya’s foxy superhero persona, Rena Rouge, is based on the phrase “renarde rouge,” meaning red fox. And the bread-themed villain Bakerix is a riff on the popular French comics character Asterix.

Beyond just puns, Miraculous will sometimes also include jokes that require specific knowledge of French culture in order to be understood, like in the episode “Cat Blanc,” where Marinette wants to buy a gift for Adrien’s “fifth name’s day.” Confused? We’ll break that one down for you. In France, most common names have a corresponding day of the year, a practice which grew out of the Catholic tradition of saints having yearly feast days. So in France, in addition to buying someone a birthday present, you might also get them a name day present.

The joke here is that Adrien apparently has at least five names his first name and at least four middle names and that Marinette has such a huge crush on him that she not only knows all five of his names but would also buy him a present for his fifth name day. It’s a great joke, but to younger English speaking viewers, it must seem absolutely impenetrable.

Does Adrien Love Marinette

Adrien complimenting Marinette on her fashion designs. Adrien likes Marinette as a friend and seems to be totally oblivious to her feelings for him, which is shown when he tries to set her up with Nino in Animan. He thinks she is a fantastic artist, occasionally showing signs of affection towards her.

Does Marinette Know Who Cat Noir Is After Chat Blanc

goes into the future with Bunnix and came to Cat Noir being Cat LeBlanc, also him knowing her real identity. Afterwards when everything in the future was fixed, she went back to the past where she erased her name from the gift.

Then, Does Marinette gets Akumatized?

When Cat Noir almost understood that is Ladybug, panics and makes him believe shes in love with him to distract him. However, when the superhero tells them that he is not in love with , Tom, heartbroken, gets akumatized by Hawk Moth.

Considering this, Will Marinette and Adrien get together? Adrien jumps into the role as the confident supermodel he is while absolutely loses it. Eventually, the pair meet up, work rather well together, and succeed in their first mission.

Symbolism In The Front Gate Of The Agreste Mansion

Ive been on vacation and while chilling in between trips I remembered that I wanted to do this for quite a while. So here I go, thats what I found

My biggest findings are in the upper half of the gate

My first founding is a peacock. The second, when you turn the picture upside down

Boom. Butterfly.

Both of these didnt surprise me at all. Some weeks ago and me found in the reeling of the stairs, infront of the mansion, to the underground train these little gems

Not the best coloring of an implied peacock but you get it

Again, butterfly and peacock. So these two also being in the front gate is no surprise. My issue right now is that Im kinda in despair when it comes to the other part of the front gate

The giantic middle part. The thing is, my thought was that it was once again a gigantic peacock

I was and am fully aware that it doesnt look 1 to 1 perfect but that isnt needed for an implied picture so thats why I thought Eh, could very well be legit. I mean what else could it be?? So i went to the people i went on vacation with and I swear to god they looked at me like

Gurl, that aint a peacock

While Looking Up The Real Life Equivalent Of Emilies Portrait And Its Artist I Came Across Something That Is Just Way Too Good To Be A Mere Coincidence

As many fans know already Emilies golden portrait is in real life the painting Adele Bloch-Bauer I by Gustav Klimt from 1907.

Its to this day the painting sold for the highest price EVER, making it a fitting portrait to visualize Gabriels love for Emilie I always thought. But there is quite more background information with potential to be important.

Back before we were given Emilies name in Gorizilla Adele was a very common name for her in the fandom because of the original golden Lady, Adele. Funnily enough, the idea that Emilies name is connected to her portrait has quite likely never been a wrong assumption in the first place. We just never went deep enough to find her actual name or a couple of other similarities for not only her but for Natalie as well.

Cat Noir’s Crush Is Pretty Creepy

There’s a big problem at the heart of Miraculous. You see, the romantic tension between Marinette and Adrien is arguably the most compelling part of the show. We want to root for this relationship to happen, and most of the time, we can. But every once in a while, Adrien crosses a line. To be frank, despite the show’s attempts to frame Adrien’s crush on Ladybug as sweet and endearing, he sometimes exhibits obsessive, borderline stalker-ish attitudes and behaviors.

When he’s acting as Cat Noir, Adrien repeatedly professes his love for Ladybug, time and time again, forcing her to endlessly rebuff his affections, and he sometimes even does this in the middle of their battles against supervillains. There’s even a bit in the episode “Animan” when he tries to stealthily smell her without her noticing. As you might imagine, she does notice, and she isn’t too pleased. Since he’s just a teenager, we’re willing to cut the kid some slack, but enough is enough. Seriously dude, don’t keep hitting on someone who’s already shot you down, especially not while they’re at work.

On the other hand, there was that time in the episode “Cat Blanc” when Marinette was sneaking through Adrien’s bedroom while he wasn’t home, and she touched all his belongings and smelled his pillow, so maybe turnabout is fair play? Eh, you decide for yourself. Is Adrien unforgivably creepy, or do these two freaks absolutely deserve each other?

Good God Alright Than I Guess Its Not A Damn Peacock

Anyway, even if they didnt like the gigantic peacock idea, they still helped me looking for other things. And we got three more!

  • The little butterfly: No objections on my side. Gabriel is the butterfly miraculous holder, its the middle of the gate, quite in plain sight not exactly hidden. Just turned upside down. Makes sense
  • The Cats: Well I certainly cant pretend like cat symbols on the Agreste front gate are anywhere close to a surprise. And honestly, the longer I look at it the more I am genuinely happy with them. They look good, they are appropriately big , you look at them straight ahead and they make sense in the family context.
  • The Ram/Goat: Eh, should have left the lower loops uncolored. Oh well This one did very much take me by surprise when it was pointed out to me but its also the one I can see the least. Still, damn would it explain why the gate has these random half-loops, with stripes inside, near the bottom. They always just stuck out odd to me. But Im actually very conflicted about the implication this makes, that the Agreste family has something to do with yet ANOTHER miraculous. I love this family to bits but three miraulouses are more than enough, dont you think?

Okidoki thats all me and my people found in the gate. Let me know what you guys think and if you see something else ^^

Is Hawk Moth Cat Noirs Dad

Adrien is eager to transform and immediately does so. Cat Noir and Ladybugs purpose is to protect Paris from a man known as Hawk Moth, who can transform people into supervillains. Hawk Moth wishes to obtain Cat Noirs and Ladybugs Miraculouses, and he is actually Adriens father without them being aware of this.

Theory For Gabriel Agreste

The Reveal!

Saying that Im EXCITED for this episode is an understatement, Im THRILLED! So let me give you my speculation for what could happen in it and how itll affect the future, because pieces are literally just falling into place in my brain and I just have to write this down.

The episode is called” Gabriel agreste” because in this episode Gabriel will create a Sentimonster for himself thatll take his place and cover for him in his civilian life while he himself gets completely swallowed by his Hawkmoth/ShadowMoth identity . He doesnt want to waste anymore unnecessary time by having to NOT be Hawkmoth, which then completely separates him from Adrien who very much was one of the last few strings that kept him grounded in his humanity.

The episode takes place right before the middle of the season and since its season 4 we are talking about here its fair to assume that both Adrien and Gabriel are back at suspecting each other to be Chat Noir and Hawkmoth again at some point. Adrien is going to be even more rebellious after the status quo break and set up of Lies so him maybe to be Chat Noir could definitely be the factor that sets Gabriel over the edge, rips these two apart for good and brings Gabriel to distance himself altogether while covering his own identity from his son by creating a Sentimonster

A cover up Sentimonster was actually already kinda forshadowed in Party Crasher

It simply was only the tip of the iceberg.

After The First Two Transformation Phrases Someone Clearly Ran Out Ideas

If you’re a superhero who magically transforms into your alter ego, there’s something important that you need to decide ASAP, right up there with your costume and your name your transformation phrase. Whether you settle on “shazam,” “henshin,” or “by the power of Grayskull,” a good catchphrase is paramount. Ladybug and Cat Noir definitely have this covered. Ladybug’s “Tikki, spots on” and Cat Noir’s “Plagg, claws out” are right up there with “it’s morphin’ time” when it comes to top-tier mantras. They’re short, punchy, and memorable.

Unfortunately, it’s pretty clear that the writers or perhaps just the translators quickly ran out of steam after coming up with these first two catchphrases because pretty much every other Miraculous holder we meet has a transformation phrase that’s either extremely wordy, nonsensical, or both. Viperion is stuck with the awkward tongue twister “Sass, scales, slither,” and Multimouse has the cringe-inducing “Mullo, get squeaky.” Just try saying one of those out loud with a straight face, we dare you. Perhaps even worse, Carapace has “Wayzz, shell on” and Queen Bee has “Pollen, buzz on,” both of which are basically just copies of Ladybug’s phrase.

An Ocean Of Queer Subtext Lies Beneath Miraculous’ Surface

Though queer representation in kids’ shows is now becoming more of the norm in America, it seems as though France might be a step behind in this regard because there aren’t any confirmed LGBTQ+ characters in Miraculous, at least not in the canonical text of the show. In the subtext, however, it’s a completely different story. Miraculous contains multiple minor supporting characters who are pretty clearly intended to be in same-sex relationships, even if the show doesn’t ever come out and say so explicitly.

The first major gay relationship in the show is between shy goth Juleka Couffaine and bubbly blonde Rose Lavillant. Though polar opposites in many ways, the two characters are clearly very close. They’re often shown holding hands, leaning on or comforting each other, and the two are even implied to kiss in the episodes “Zombizou” and “Reflekdoll,” though it’s somewhat obscured both times.

The other subtextually queer pairing in Miraculous is the one between Marc Anciel and Nathaniel Kurtzberg. These two artsy kids are practically inseparable, and Marc is undeniably designed to be read as queer. Not only does he have visible makeup, rainbow clothing, and queer-coded mannerisms, even his name, Marc Anciel, is a pun on the French term for rainbow, “arc-en-ciel.” Series creator Thomas Astruc even semi-confirmed Mark’s queerness when he revealed that the character was based on a friend of his, the bisexual genderfluid artist Hope Morphin.

Professor For The Messed Up Agrestology

I know it is never stated inside the show, however I cant help but think this statue of Emilie is supposed to act as her tombstone.

We only got two scenes so far happening in front of it. During Catalyst, when Gabriel and Nathalie are discussing of the plan about to be put into motion after months of preparations.

Gabriel : And you are sure you want to do this?

And much later, during Félix , when Gabriel meets up with Adrien to talk to him.

Gabriel : Theres something important I have to talk to you about. I think about telling you everyday, but I dont know how to find the right words.

It is still too early to establish the symbolic of the statue, but so far, each time Gabriel is facing that statue, he seems confronted to a harsh choice. Exposing himself and involving someone else more directly with what he is accomplishing for Emilies sake.

This seems to be an opposition to when he is facing Emilies portrait in his office where he is more close-minded and focus on his objective.

If we think of the portrait as a symbol of Gabriels hope and wish for Emilie to be back, the statue seems to be more grounded in the reality. It might be reminder of the burden resting on his shoulders but also a symbol of the consequences he is exposing others he is supposed to care about .

So, yeah, Ill keep an eye out next time a scene involves anyone of the Agreste household in front of the statue.
