Can I Take My New Pet Home The Same Day

San Antonio Humane Society pet adoption candidate: Mochi

In most cases, yes. We actually prefer for you to take your new pet home so that he/she can get started being a part of your family. If you know you are in the market for a pet, it is a good idea to have some things ready for your new pet such as bedding, food, bowls, and toys. That way, when you fall in love with the right one, you both will be ready.

What Is Footbridge Foundation

We are a nonprofit 501c3 based in San Antonio,Texas. Formed in 2017, our mission is to raise funds for animal rescue and find forever homes for our adoptable cats and dogs. Donations are used for veterinary costs, intake fees to animal rescue providers, transport costs to rescue partners and animal fostering costs. To fund our charitable animal rescue efforts we rely solely on the much needed donations of our generous supporters. We can’t do it without you!

Your donation directly helps the animals in need, as we do not draw any salaries. We rehabilitate and then adopt our cats and dogs to amazing pet owners not only in San Antonio but throughout the country. We work with many local shelters, rescues and individuals to save as many as we can.

In general, no. We want potential pet owners to be sure they are ready to adopt. We encourage you to think through the decision before you adopt, rather than after. If so, we will perform a pre-adopt in which we place an adoption hold on the animal and allow you to pay the necessary adoption fees. In these circumstances, San Antonio Pets Alive! still has legal ownership of the pet until they have received surgery and will keep the pet in our care until after it has had the surgery.

Adoption Special Begins Saturday

SAN ANTONIO Animal Care Services is holding a special on cat and kitten adoptions due to an ongoing influx.

ACS says that starting Saturday, felines will be $5 in an effort to entice would-be adopters.

Residents are highly encouraged to take advantage of the limited time discount to adopt a pair of cats or kittens so they can provide companionship to each other, ACS said in a news release.

ACS spokeswoman Lisa Norwood said the $5 adoption fee will remain until the overcrowding eases.

The foster-to-adopt program is also still available for animals that need more time to develop.

Pets that are adopted go home vaccinated, spayed/neutered, de-wormed and microchipped. Pets that are fostered come with food, supplies and medical care.

Appointments are no longer needed to see an animal at ACS. To browse all of the animals that are currently up for adoption, click here.

The San Antonio Pets Alive! is also holding an in-person adoption event this weekend. For more information, click here.

Who We Are

Tejas Rescued Pet Adoptions is a 501c3 non-profit organization consisting only of dedicated volunteers who foster and care for rescued cats and dogs . TEJAS does not have a physical shelter but operates instead through the use

of private foster homes and boarding. TRPA is based in San Antonio, Texas, but covers the surrounding cities and counties.

What We Do

Tejas Rescued Pet Adoptions takes the necessary steps to make a rescued pet ready for adoption into a loving forever home. Our rescues arrive into our care from many different circumstances, requiring various degrees of medical attention. All vaccinations and veterinary care are provided prior to the adoption along with spay and neuters and a microchip. The rescues are fostered in private homes or boarded until ready for adoption.

PROGRAMKAT_TRAP is a new undertaking started by TRPA to assist our seniors. Seniors, with cats indoors and outside their homes, with limited income and transportation are our first priority. TRPA volunteers trap the cats, rent a van if necessary, transport the cats to be fixed, pay, recover and monitor, then return the cats to their home. On many occasions, a dog catches a ride to be fixed. Email us to donate, volunteer or for more information:

Welcome To Paws Ranch Rescue

San Antonio Pets Alive! rescues 25 kittens from euthanization

Paws Ranch Rescue and Animal sanctuary 501 non-profit organization that got its start in 2010 thanks to a publicly voted grant from Pepsi. We exist solely on grants, donations, and the help of our dedicated volunteers. Our goal is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home or provide sanctuary to as many pets as possible. Over a thousand abused, abandoned, and neglected animals have already been saved by PRRAS. We at PRRAS along with the Alamo Area partnership for animal welfare and other local rescues are striving to make San Antonio a truly NO KILL city. You can help by getting involved. Adopt a less adoptable pet, foster a pet, sponsor a special needs animal, become a volunteer, donate funds, pet supplies, or food, educate friends and neighbors about the stray pet problem, spay and neutering, and encourage them to adopt instead of breeding or buying. Together we can reach our goal of a Real No Kill City!

Adoptable Cats & Kittens

All guests interested in meeting one of our pets must provide SAHS staff with a valid photo ID, and be a minimum of 18 years of age. Guests under the age of 18 are unable to meet our pets unless accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older. Before applying to adopt, we ask all visitors to first socialize with the pet for at least 20 minutes to help ensure compatibility. Under special circumstances you may be required to spend longer than 20 minutes with a pet. When youre ready to move forward with the adoption process, kennel staff will direct you to the front lobby where you will complete an application and sit with an adoption counselor for review.

We would like you to have the opportunity to get to know our pets before they get to know yours. For the safety of your pet and ours, we suggest that you please leave your pet at home. Please speak with our staff about setting up a dog introduction. All dogs coming into our shelter need to be up to date on their vaccinations . Please bring your vaccination record.

Depending on the number of applications pending, the wait to meet with an adoption counselor can range between 30 minutes to 2 hours. Depending on wait time, we are currently utilizing text message alerts for visitors who wish to leave our campus while they wait.

What It Takes

The ideal foster care provider has basic knowledge of animal care, as well as a desire to provide a loving temporary home for a pet in need. We also provide basic training to those who would love to help, but may not have much experience! ADL fosters provide their pets with food, water, shelter, loving attention, and trips to our clinic for medical treatment when necessary.

How To Adopt

When you adopt from the Animal Defense League of Texas, you do not save just one life you save two! How do you ask? You would be saving the pet that youve decided to adopt, and that would open up a kennel for us to save another unwanted, neglected, abused or abandoned pet in San Antonio. By adopting from ADL, you are helping solve the problem.

Why Foster

San Antonio Humane Society pet adoption candidate: Einstein

Becoming a foster provides critical care for a shelter pet. Sometimes, foster care provides a needed break from shelter life. Often, fosters are needed for pets who are too young for adoption, or need time to recover from a health issue. Placing these animals into foster homes not only makes their lives better, but also saves the lives of those who take their place. Fostering a shelter animal is a rewarding experience, but requires hard work and dedication.
